Weird but Wonderful Fishing Baits

Stick 'em in your ears, then catch bucket loads! (Apparently)
While we’ve been trolling around the ‘net this week, several times we’ve come across the topic of ‘What bait do I use for Fish X’.

It’s the age old question that helps beginners stand out from the crowd, but to many it is a chance to show off their personal discoveries in the scientific field of fish bait. The most picky breed of fish seem to be Bream, which will never cease to amaze us with the types of food anglers all over Australia dangle from hooks in a bid to catch them.

Here’s five of our favourite ‘Fancy Feasts’ for Fish.

1.Chicken Marinated in Oyster Sauce with Soy and Parmesan Cheese. Apparently the smell of the sauce when it creates an oil slick on the surface is alluring to Bream, as well as several other smaller fish found off the rocks…

2.Corn Kernels. Small fish require small bait, so with some decent skills and a willing school of fish, you could be reeling in hundred of fish from one Corn Cob. Apparently fish raised in hatcheries are in love with the stuff.

3.Marshmellows. Particularly the mini ones, work really well for all types of sunfish. Maybe it’s the taste, maybe the texture. We don’t know, but they seem to stay on your hook pretty well!

4.Soap. Apparently Catfish love Ivory Soap. We can’t even begin to imagine why, but they do. Try it if you don’t believe us!

5.Ear Plugs. This one wins the prize according to us. Used ear plugs, you know the kind that you squish and shove in your ears on the job site? We can’t wait to try it, but apparently you need to have used them first.
