Hydrofoiling might be the latest craze, but it's not elegant

So when this video from famous kiteboard (and foil board) shaper Alex Aguera appeared on the internet, of a guy doing ‘mega-loops’ on a foil board. Our attention was immediately acquired, at least for a little while anyway.
Kanaha Beach Park, Maui (better known as ‘kite beach’) gets all sorts through the summer period. Travellers from Europe, us Aussies, and kiteboarders from all over the world flock to the birthplace of kiteboarding, amidst the learners, the professionals and the wanna-be’s trying to shoot a movie in the narrow area of flat water. Add to the mix all the latest and top-secret products that have just rolled out of Maui based R&D departments, and it makes for a pretty interesting place to be.
For Adam Withington, a kiteboarder on the Aguera team; all that action isn’t enough. He wants more, so he launched a 5m North Dyno, stepped onto a foil board and went for a boosting session. They call them mega-loops but really, they’re just kiteloops. Regardless, the ungainly hydrofoil trails out behind Mr Withington as he gets hauled through the air, almost as tall as the man himself. Then, on landing (as expected) he promptly falls from the hydrofoil as it re-enters the water.
While it’s not the most elegant video you’ll watch on the internet today, we think it’s worth a watch because some day (mark our words) someone is going to get really good at this. That day is not today though, check out the video below.
