Inspirational strapless surfboard tricks - Ride with me Ep2

Strapless Freestyle looks amazing, but it's hard!
Thanks to our Aussie friend Keahi De Aboitiz, the world has all-of-a-sudden decided to do silly things with surfboards. Gone are the days of hucking huge turns on waves, footstraps and tiny little kites. 2013 is the year of the strapless surfboard freestyle, and this kid has got it well and truly sorted.

Surfboard freestyle is the art of flicking a board with no straps around in the air, then landing on it without slicing your feet off on the fins. The combinations are endless and now even including doing rotations like backflips while the board stays completely still on the water. It’s very cool stuff, and you really need to see it to understand what’s going on. Even better, try it! It’s not until you try it that you appreciate how difficult it is. These kids are amazing.

Adding to the spectacular nature of the trickery here, is the awesome little gadget this guy is using on top of his head. It’s basically a shopping trolley wheel with a long bar welded to it, and a GoPro stuck on the end, but the effect is super cool. Heaps of videos are being released this week with the effect, but you can be sure it’s here to stay thanks to the unique angle and high tech look…
