Join pro kiter Elliot Drury on safari this winter.

Looking for a holiday destination for this years winter escape? Elliot Drury just got in contact to tell us about a freestyle clinic he’s running at the Australian Kite Surfari in North Queensland.

Elliot Drury, a Canadian kiter who’s now riding in Sydney for Liquid Force, burst onto the scene a couple of years ago. He quickly gained a reputation in the industry through his work at Kitepower and only a few months ago became the Australian Freestyle Champion (in the international category) at his home spot, Dolls Point in Sydney.

But there’s no wind in Sydney during winter, and a pro kiteboarder needs to train! Most professional riders head overseas in their off seasons to find ideal training conditions abroad, but Elliot is choosing to stay domestic this year.

“You can get wind every single day (strong wind at that!), on the Australian Kite Surfari; in a unique location, with incredible nature around you and it's all within Australia! I like that it's a simple camp away from the hustle and bustle of what has become an extremely fast-paced and stressful world.”

Not only is Elliot staying in Australia, he’s giving you the chance to join him for a week long freestyle clinic! We asked him why the Australian Kite Surfari is the perfect spot to learn some new moves…

“The thing about learning freestyle is that you need strong wind, and the beautiful 20-35 knots that the AKS offers is perfect. Some of the best kiters in the world come from very windy locations. The other thing you need is some flat water! With it's tidal lagoon, the spot on the AKS has such an awesome array of conditions to train in!”

If you’re keen to learn some new tricks, or simply improve your general freestyle riding, then get in contact with Elliot and join him on the Australian Kite Surfari in North QLD this August.
