Kiteracing action hits Perth's shores this week

A new wave of water action hits Perth this week with the Kiteracing Oceanic Championships at Leighton Beach. Ten top ten internationally-ranked male and female kiteracers and a strong field of West Australians will hit the water for course racing, freestyle kiting and air jumps.

On Saturday 14 December the Lighthouse to Leighton, now in its fourth year, will take place as part of the Championships. Competitors will race from Phillip Point at Rottnest Island back to Leighton Beach, chasing the record time of 24 minutes and 34 seconds set in the inaugural event by Frenchman Alex Caizergues.

Who

Five top ten ranked male kite course racers including world number 1 male course racer Florian Gruber (Germany), and five top ten ranked female kite course racers including world number 1 female course racer Steph Bridge (UK). Plus, world speed record holder Alex Caizergues (France) is returning to the Lighthouse to Leighton to defend his record.
