December is prime time in WA for kiteboarding and SUP events, with the Doctor in full swing, blue skies and temps in the 30's, it's picture perfect as far as kiteboarding destinations go. For the seventh year running, the Red Bull Lighthouse to Leighton will be held in the first week of December, and this year offers 135 slots for kiteboarders.

Starting at Phillip Point Rottnest, off the coast of Perth, the longest race of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere has competitors racing across the Indian Ocean and Gage Roads finishing at Leighton Beach, North Fremantle. A course of 19km, with a course record of just 22 minutes! It's a spectacular start and finish, with the media coverage by Red Bull offering exceptional press for the sport thanks to the fact that they hire helicopters and an assortment of chase boats!

Conveniently timed a couple of weeks before the final event of the Hydrofoil Pro Tour, this years event is sure to be dominated by the worlds best foilers, with many choosing to arrive early for training and to partake in the iconic race - could this be the year that the race record goes down? We'll find out in December!
