Pro's in the Pond

Throw a dart at the coastline of Australia and it’s bound to bust on a professional kiteboarders kite bladder right now, with so many of them here to sample the Australian summer season!

Kiteboarding freestyle professionals like Aaron Hadlow, Sam Medysky, Alex Pastor, and Christophe Tack. Current world champs, ex-world champs and wanna-be world champs, all riding together, throwing down more 7’s than a snowboard contest and shakings hands with trembling fans all over the country. It’s a good time to be an Aussie.

On various missions from demo tours, to holidays, the international crew were met with the Aussiest of welcomes, and of course lots of summer-time wind. Except for Hadlow this weekend, where he trekked up the coast from Brisbane to Noosa with no more than 15 knots the whole way. What’s better than standing around on a windless beach with a professional kiteboarder? Lots of things…

Anyway, he was probably tired from last week’s session in WA! One of our home grown pro’s, Ewan Jaspan got to hang out with them for a while in Perth, where the four riders mentioned above spent 30 minutes kiteboarding in the world famous Safety Bay pond. When the pro’s are in the pond, everyone moves aside (well, most of them do) and sit back to watch some of the most epic moves ever performed in the place. Our favourite was a strange backroll to backflip done by Pastor, which you need to see to understand.

Luckily, Ewan caught it all on film, and shared it with the world on Vimeo. Check it out below, and drop by your local store to see when their next celebrity promo tour is happening.
