This just in from the Red Bull Race Organisers:

Race Postponement
The difficult and disappointing decision has been made to postpone the 2011 Red Bull Lighthouse to Leighton.

In consultation with the key stakeholders, sponsors and weather experts we will postpone the race until Sunday 18th December, the first available time that the water space between Rottnest Island and Leighton Beach is available (after the ISAF Perth 2011 Sailing World Championships), subject to approvals, which we will now seek.

This decision is very disappointing to the race management and competitors alike.  However, competitors’ safety and the smooth and professional running of this iconic Australian kite boarding race is paramount to its success and longevity on the racing calendar.

NB:  No activities are planned for Leighton Beach this Saturday and no activities are planned for the Cottesloe Beach Hotel.

Alternate Date
As of now we are seeking the necessary approvals to reschedule the race for Sunday 18th December.
We will be in touch as soon as possible with more information and even though the wind is not coming to the party this weekend, the full event and experience will be worth the wait… until Sunday 18th December, keep up the training!
