Super Yachts Coming to Americas Cup.
The go-fast foiling catamarans of the Americas Cup this year in Bermuda are no-doubt 'super' in nature. They do fly after-all! But a fleet of classic 'super yachts' will be setting sail for the island soon, to compete in the America's Cup Superyacht Regatta.
Boats over 24m, and J Class boats are invited to attend the demo regatta, held the week before the Americas Cup on the Northern side of Bermuda due to the Americas Cup course being held in a bay too small for these monsters to sail effectively.
Leatrice Oatley, Commodore of the Royal Bermuda Yacht Club is excited about the event: "We are proud to be involved in the first superyacht regatta to come to Bermuda. We understand the tremendous opportunity the America's Cup is bringing to the island and are thrilled to be adding this event to our legacy of promoting the sport in Bermuda."
The J Class have confirmed there will be several entrants, and for those who have never been graced with the presence of these classic racers, you're in for a treat! Check out this promo video of the class which will steal the show before the hydrofoiling catarans take the world stage in June.
