Dave Kalama, Drop Bears and a Drive up the East Coast
Drop Bears.
Even Dave Kalama fell for the age-old Aussie tale of creatures that will ‘tear your face off’ dropping from trees in the outback. Poor Dave, how was he supposed to know, he grew up in a family of waterman which groomed him into one of the kingpins of stand up paddling that we know him as today. He talks about his father, grandfather and the inherent passion for stand up paddling, the ocean, and family in this interview with the guys from Surf FX.
“Stand Up Paddling has become my passion. I do my own boards and I design for Imagine. I constantly test prototypes and trying to develop new designs, and that just keeps me so motivated and so driven to get out there and frothing. It keeps me alive, and keeps me excited. Anything that does that for you, has got to be good.”
