Get Your Used SUP Gear Sold Fast - Here's How!

Example of a great SUP Advert
"Ask any salesman, selling is an art, and when done right is simply poetry in motion."

It's great to watch a skillful salesman work with a buyer, they understands the buyers needs and give them what they want and using just the right words

Selling your used SUP equipment online however, doesn't give you the chance to do the selling in person, and studies show that buyers view an advert for between 4 and 6 seconds before moving on!

To make the most of the few seconds you have a buyers attention for, your ad needs to stand out from the rest, and include some simple qualities that will get you the maximum dollars for your second hand SUP gear.

Great SUP Classifieds MUST HAVE

Awesome Photos.

Without photos, 95% of buyers won't even look at your ad, so at least three photos are a MUST have. Seabreeze.com.au Premium Ads allow up to 8 photos, so why not use them?

Scroll down for a list of the best photo angles to include for paddles, stand up paddle boards and accessories.

Make sure your photos are taken with a good camera (smart phone cameras are perfectly fine), and in a well lit area.

The easiest way to get great photos, is to take your board/paddle to the beach with you, lay it on the grass and give it a quick brush down with your towel. Avoid taking photos of SUP gear on your bed, lounge room floor, garage or driveway.

A Quality Description.

Photos could sell an item on their own, but a great description answers all the questions that might turn away potential buyers. Aim for around 100 to 150 words, with the following information. - Item Description (Year, Brand, Model, Size) - Item Condition (Used, great condition) - Description of damage/repairs/scratches (No repairs) - Short sentence about why you loved it. (Best Board EVER!) - How much use the item has had (Used for 2 seasons) - Reason for selling (Upgrading to new model) - What's included.

A Fair Price.

Make sure you list a price for your used SUP equipment, so buyers know the ballpark they're in. "Offers" are great, if you want people to offer you what they 'hope' to buy it for, and that's probably less than you want to sell it for! Remember, second hand equipment is usually subject to some negotiation, so keep that in mind when listing a price (list a little higher than you'll take). Be prepared to negotiate a little, or state clearly that your price is firm.

Shipping Options.

Seabreeze is a national website, so buyers will be viewing your items from all over the country. Decide ahead of time if you're prepared to ship your equipment.

Paddles are pretty easy, boards are not so. Enlist the help of your local SUP store for a box, and buy lots of bubble wrap. In most cases, SUP shops will be happy to ship your gear on their account, and pass on the bill with a small fee, otherwise, look up a shipping company near you and get a quote. If that all sounds like too much work, then list your board as 'Pickup Only'.

Example of a great description for a 2014 Fanatic Prowave - 8' 0" "2014 Fanatic Prowave Carbon - 8'0" x 26" in very good condition. Some small scratches on the tail of the board from it rubbing on the back door of my van, and some little paddle chips on the rail. GoPro mount installed on the nose, and Shapers fins come included! This was my favourite board for 3-5 foot beachies in Perth, I just loved the way it turns! Used for the last two years every weekend, only selling to upgrade to the 2016 model. Includes Dakine leggy, Shapers fins and a Fanatic board bag.
