Help a local chick win the stand up paddling world tour!

"Currumbin Alley, my home break! To train i'm doing early morning surfing sessions, trying to push the limits and trying new things. If the wind picks up later in the day I'll go for a downwinder or do gym!"
The name Ke'ale Dorries might sound familiar to stand up paddlers who have been keeping an eye on the competitive paddling scene the last few years, she placed third in the 2014 Huntington Beach, and Turtle bay sprints, just after winning the Huntington Beach Pro in 2013. In 2016, she wants to get back there, but she needs Aussie paddlers help to make it!

Since then Ke'ale (pronounced like Keahi, with an 'L') has been training hard at her home break Currumbin, on the Gold Coast with some new gear thanks to her sponsors Fanatic. Now also free of the bonds of school, she's ready to hit the pro circuit for real, planning on attending each of the major events this year and showing the world that QLD stand up paddlers are among the best on earth.

Ke'ale told us this week that she'll be going head to head with fellow Gold coast coaster, Shakira Westdorp for the titles this year; "My biggest rival but also a great friend is Shakira Westdorp. She's also heading over to do the Tour and I'm excited to be able to surf against her again! She is an amazing athlete and I really look up to her."

To help her get there she's asked for the Aussie stand up paddling communities help. Through the website GoFundMe she's raising $3000 which will go towards her airfares, accommodation costs and entry fees. She's also being helped out by a local fitness company Surf Life Physio, as well as Fanatic Austalia. The $3000 is a far cry from completely funding her trip, but it could just be the difference between a local girl from Currumbin becoming the next world champ, or just missing out because she couldn't put up the entry fee.
