New Years 'Sup-olution' ideas for Stand Up Paddlers
Introduce someone new to the sport. One of the best things about stand up paddling, is that you can share it with others! Unlike kiteboarding or windsurfing, you don't need lessons to get started on SUP, so grab a friend and get down to the beach sometime this year. Spend 30 minutes teaching them the basics on your own board, and they'll be asking here to buy a board for themselves!
Become part of the online stand up paddling community. We get it, sometimes forums can be scary, especially if you've never posted before. The Seabreeze.com.au community isn't like other forums though, and the stand up paddlers posting new threads every day are just as stoked on stand up paddling as you are! Try posting a few pics from a session you really enjoyed, ask a question about paddle technique, or even write a short report about your morning surf!
Get faster, surf longer, lose weight. No matter what your goals are in the sport of stand up paddling. You won't know you've reached them unless you set a benchmark! Go for a paddle on the 1st of January, and record a distance, a time, or number of waves if that's your thing. Write down your weight if you're in the sport for fitness, decide on a time or weight you'd like to be in 2017, and make it happen! Try getting up 30 minutes earlier for a dawn session, or staying out until sunset. Setting goals is the key to many professional athletes training regimes, but you don't have to be a pro to benefit!
Make one, make all three, but most importantly, make sure to include SUP in your plans for the New Year to ensure 2016 is just as amazing as 2015! Get among the forums, and share your New Years Sup-olution with the Stand Up Paddling Community right here.
