Do you know a kid who’s destined for big things in the stand up paddling world? Are YOU a kid with dreams of becoming the next Kai or Connor? SIC are looking for stand up paddlers to form their Junior Development Team in conjunction with The Paddle Academy this year!

“SIC wants to find to young paddlers that meet the criteria and want to push their competitive paddling to the next level. SIC is looking for the groms that show potential in downwind, flat water and surf.”

Two lucky paddlers will be chosen early next year to take part in the program, but first they must have strong results in school, on the water and most importantly, the desire to become a true waterman in all disciplines of the paddling world. Those paddlers selected will receive a sponsorship from SIC, including equipment, accommodation at events with the rest of the SIC pro team, and training via ‘The Paddle Academy’.

Helping young athletes develop into professionals, and future role models for other paddlers following in their footsteps, Californian company The Paddle Academy is hoping to start a legacy of turning out some race winning stand up paddlers in 2015. 

'Grom Searches' have been popular in the surfing world for years. Made famous with the Rip Curl Grom Search, the additional training, media and competition support catapults youth to the top of podiums in a matter of years. Heard of Steph Gilmour? She was the winner of one of these competitions back in 2004, and look where she is now!
