Solo Transatlantic SUP Crossing begins in January 2016

"Nicolas hopes to be completely sufficient on his Atlantic Crossing by SUP"
The plan was made, a board was shaped, media went crazy, and now a date has been set for the record breaking crossing of the Atlantic Ocean by stand up paddle board.

If Nicolas Jarossay makes it, the crossing will be one of the most incredible feats ever witnessed in the sport of stand up paddle boarding. A journey of more than 5000km, sleeping inside his board and carrying all his food on board. To call it a downwinder, would a slight understatement.

Teaming up with the film guys at Horue (who make hydrofoils), Nicolas has just released a new promo clip to showcase the training and effort that's going into the preparation. It even shows some little previews of the uniquely shaped board he's had designed exclusively for himself. It has a large nose, a bit like an over inflated Starboard Ace, for food storage and sleeping compartment. The tail also has a raised section for storage and supplies. In the flat water, it actually looks pretty slick!

Expected to take approximately 75 days to complete the journey, Nicolas hopes to be completely sufficient on his Atlantic Crossing by SUP. He's got two desalinators on board for water, heaps of freeze dried food, and some pretty fancy navigation equipment to help him arrive in the right spot. Following him the whole way will be a support boat of course, and the rest of the worlds stand up paddling community.

The crossing is planned to begin in January 2016, only a month away! Check out the promotional trailer below to see what's going on right now in the planning states of this extraordinary stand up paddling feat.
