Stand Up Paddle Surfing in the Turks and Caicos Islands
Been to Maui? Done Namotu? Surfed Tahiti? Why not check this place out, because it looks nothing short of amazing. Nestled just North of Haiti and South of the Bahamas, you can probably imagine the landscape. The whole network of islands surrounds a giant lagoon with surf breaking on the northern and eastern sides, there’s a decent sized town on the outer islands, some seriously luxurious houses you can stay in. Oh, and don’t be surprised if you spot some A-list celebrities while you’re there, the Turks and Caicos Islands are the ‘in’ holiday destination right now for the mega-famous.
Yes, it is one of those hard to get to places, with flights from the USA the only real option for traveling stand up paddlers, but by the looks of this video the rewards are likely to be worth the travel time. Flights are about the same as getting to Antigua or the West Indies, or you can charter a private jet.
We’ll leave that option to you, or if you’re opting for the more traditional holiday a little closer to home – dream a little and enjoy the great stand up paddling movie from Anika LaLopa and Wes Matweyew.
