Crowded House - What needs to be done about Snapper?

"With the increasing popularity of surfing, areas such as the Gold coast are experiencing more and more overcrowded line-ups. We caught up with professional surfers, members or parliament from the Gold Coast, and local surfers to discuss the challenges surrounding overcrowding and possible solutions such as artificial waves to alleviate these crowded surf spots."

Directed and Filmed by Nick Colbey, Crowded House interviews the who's who of surfing on the QLD/NSW border, from Currumbin to Cabarita Beach in a bid to find out whether overcrowding is a serious issue, or just media hype.

The overwhelming opinion? Serious issue! The solution? Make more waves!

Surfers say that the population isn't going anywhere, so the only solution is to make more waves. Be it the artificial wave solution (eg. Kelly's wave pool), or artificial reefs off the beaches to make better waves in more places, the locals on the Gold Coast say that something needs to be done. Except the the local 11yr old grommie from Snapper, named Marlin; he said he just gets on with it, hiding out behind the rocks at snapper with his mate Mick Fanning and only occasionally copping a session with no waves.

Could this little grommie hold the answer to the overcrowding problem on the Gold Coast? Or will the surfers need to spread out around Australia, making new reefs as each break gets 'too crowded'?
