It's almost time for Olympic fever to settle down, but after last weeks news of surfing's inclusion in the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, Kelly Slater has made a very good point to consider during a TV interview.

Joe Buck sat down the the great KS during a talk show to discuss the future of Olympic Surfing, and what it might mean for the world tour.

"You know right now there's a lot of talk about whether surfing could get into the Olympics." Tells Kelly, "We have our world title! We have that thing. If we get into the Olympics it might be really great. It could be really cool, but what you're going to do is you're going to determine a world champion or Olympian or the most famous surfer in the world by one event, in one type of condition. And Surfing is not really 'that'. We have a title that does it over different types of waves, and geographical places over the course of a year so it's a long performance; and you weed out the best of the best at the end."

Now that's not to say Kelly isn't keen on throwing on a Team USA Jersey and paddling out in Japan, but the man just likes his world tour a lot. 11 times a lot. Wouldn't you?
