Old Mal Australia Traditional Surfing Resurgence

Old Mal Australia talks about the traditional surfing resurgence with a new traditional surfing judging
course on offer.

Traditional surfing has continued to gain momentum over the past 10 years with greater participation,
new retro shapers and Timber Fanatics creating remakes of the classic surf craft. The contest and non competitive rally organisers have enhanced the progressive growth and awareness of this timeless, gracious style of surfing.

The surfing of original “classic surf craft” including timber, pre 1969 longboards, pre 1978 short boards single and twin fin and since 2010 retro remakes of timber and loggers have been included into the “traditional surfing” fraternity.

Since surfing first  started in Australia, which is always a debatable commencement date, we have
enjoyed our local beaches on some challenging surf craft.

Today, a committed band of  fanatics “ Old Mal Surfers” and of late, a resurgence of “timber surf craft
fanatics” are now partaking in the fine art of this style of surfing.

Old Mal Australia represents this fraternity encouraging the restoration, collection and, of course, the surfing of “original classic surf craft, timber and retro remakes”.

Old Mal Australia organises non competitive and competitive surf rallies and encourages all contest organises to include all or any of these divisions into their contest formats.

If you beg, borrow or own any of these surf crafts you are already part of our Fraternity as Old Mal
Australia is a “Non Monetary Association”.
