The 22nd of July, 2015 will go down in history as 'the day Niccolo Porcella should have died.' Forget Fanning and his shark attack, this guy was actually millimeters from death when he went over the falls.

Teahupoo is famous for its slabby lips and unrelenting beat-downs on the reef, and last week was absolutely pumping at the Tahitian break. Big wave surfers from all over the world were being towed in to the monsters, including one guy from Sardegna, Italy - Niccolo Porcella.

He was out in Tahiti filming a TV series called 'Lift Off', documenting the travels of extreme sports athletes in all kinds of disciplines, but never expected that only a few days after the shoot, would be racking up millions of views online in what's being called the heaviest wipeout in history. Best of all, he got right back on the horse, being towed into another monster only a short time later.

Entered in the XXL Big Wave Awards, it's going to be hard to top this wipeout for any surfer of sane mind. Check it out below!
