When it's on at the Superbank, it's on for young and old. And middle aged, and their dogs. Possibly their wives. It's packed, but among the drama, the carnage and the hordes, Mick Fanning knows how to pick 'em.

This week some serious instability in the atmosphere has messed up surfing conditions on the East coast with afternoon storms sweeping in and chopping up the beachies for days ahead. Last week however, gentle offshores and afternoon seabreezes lined up a couple of days of summer perfection on the Gold and Sunshine Coasts, most famously at the Superbank (Snapper Rocks).

Someone described it as natures comeback to Kelly Slaters wave pool, and after watching this clip from surf photographer Matt Coleman you will too. A perfect right hander, breaking over pristine sand, with blue water in the background and bikini girls in the foreground. Add a few pro surfers like Mick and his mates, and watch it go off.

There are no aerials, and not even any jaw dropping cutbacks or slashes. Just pure Superbank style barrels, sometimes three, four sections on one wave; sometimes one section that goes for eternity.
