I went to a Kinks concert at the Sydney Showgrounds in 1970 or 71 and Daddy Cool were the runner up band.
They totally upstaged the Kinks.
Daddy Cool turned up, relatively unknown, at the Melbourne Uni Union Bar in about '71. I can believe they upstaged the Kinks. Sunbury was just around the corner for us Melbournian westies. i can still remember that rock festival litter.
I saw the Master's "Turn up your radio" clip and thought ,
clicked on it, set the volume on 11 and sat back for the awesomeness........
until the Sandwichmaker had a dummy spit about the ruddy noise
[she prefers Kylie locomotion-ing, country AND western, and that dodgy ABBA kinda stuff]
[long suffering]stephen
It gets better.
..sorry unhook3d.. They dont qualify as they are not Rock and Roll nor are they from the 60s or 70s
however you would like to start a new thread for Aussie hip hop I would gladly add my favs
Checking out Chain, with Matt Taylor vocals and harmonica and Phil Manning ripping it up on guitar at various pubs around Perth was often the go with the crew that I hung out with.
Sunday Sessions at places such as the Castle (North Beach) got very very messy on occasions.
Excuse the clip in the first one obviously a bit of lip syncing for tv, seems he forgot where the harp came in, drugs will do that to you.
well two of the crew in this used to play in Aus pubs in the 70,s ,so i guess it fits he thread ............
Not quite 60's or 70's but classic Aussie rock song. Interesting article about the group and the song: www.theguardian.com/music/australia-culture-blog/2014/may/20/australian-anthems-god-my-pal
