I don't know? No Kathy Freeman, no Thorpy, no Lay Down Sally. Is it worth watching?
The write ups are entertaining.
"
In fact, the day belonged to the Kiwis, with a seemingly never-ending procession of New Zealand crews crossing the line first.
No.1 in the world, the Kiwis receive half the money of Rowing Australia but train twice as hard, critics maintain. "
The olympics are entertainment. If you feel the need to be entertained then the choice is yours. Personally I lost all interest in 1984 when I realised this fact.
I still think that there should be a full blown drug induced Olympics for those who dabble with roids. Now that will be entertaining.
I read the other day that surfing is now an olympic sport. Kelly Slater will be a rich man if he has patented his wave pool design. Can't see how they can offer up an even playing field any other way.
As for Rio being the best...has it started already?
Australia's first ever medal in team archery - a 15sec passing moment of coverage.
Gold in swimming - whole race shown 3 times, interview with the girls, medal ceremony in full, interview with girls' mum in Qld, race shown again, commentary, race finish slo-mo
Total - 1hr.
Media is fkd, they really are. Swimming swimming and a bit more swimming. Yeah I know Oz rules the pool, but really lets give some air time to the others.
Same thing happened last games with regards to our girls and guys in the sailing. Was a brilliant achievement that was consistently overshadowed by ordinary performances in the pool. You look at the money that must go into our swim team and think, is all the hype and under-achievement really worth it when there are, believe it or not other sports.
They aren't so bad, where else can you get to fill up with your entire TV screen with, well, you know.
Needs a trim though.

Being Brazil I'm surprised they didn't do something ass themed.

I'd rather watch archery. I suspect a lot of people would. The green thumbs do not lie.

Just happened to see it live. It's all in the facial expressions. You could almost pick from how they looked in the 5 seconds before release where it would hit. But no jumping up and down, not at all, until the last arrow let fly. Nothing to see in the swimming, they've all got their heads under water.

Yeah, I really love seeing people pull a piece of string against their nose to fire a self targeting, self levelling, self distancing machine.
Just jokes. It too was great to watch. Bring on the sailing/windsurfing I say.
In regards to the sailing I've seen that Channel 7 will have the highlights as follows;
Aug 16 2am Lasers
Aug 17 3am Nacras
Aug 18 2am 470s
Aug 19 2am 49ers
Can't see and windsurfing on Channel 7 but I'm looking forward to trying this link:

well one of the USA woman's rugby 7's is a bloke which is a bit disappointing. Calls himself Jessica.
W
Spain's womens 7s rugby was good to watch. I don't think they had played before and seemed to lack fitness. You would have to believe that --
"The team from Spain trained mainly on the plane" Sorry.
RSX starts at 1.00AM tonight (our time EST)

^^^ and Uncle Tobys or Nutrigrain or whatever endorsements it is this year...
I just saw a 48kg chick throw 130kg or something over her head. Now that is amazing.
How good were the Aussie chicks in the Sevens?
Who cares about the Bledisloe when we win the Sheila's sevens
The Olympics are redundant, all the cheating, corruption, and such a disgusting waste of money and resources.
The michael hill betting ad's and sponsorship are disgusting. I daresay tyere will be a spike in gambling number as in 8 years time when the kids watching the olympics now become adults. Surely even tge maddest punter can agree these ads are not on.
Coverage on 7 is total s h I t e. Too many taking heads and "how does it FEEL ... Your family must be soooooo PROUD right now..." interviews --- not enough sports (apart from the swimming, which others have pointed out). By the way, has anyone done the stats? What number face-lift is Bruce McAvaney up to?
