Last two days bought a large curried mixed vegetables from the IGA store in East Perth.

Yesterday it was excellent, today with the baked cheese potatoes it was awesome.

Both cost around 12 dollars. If you get with fried rice in the same container it's around 10 dollars. Price goes by weight.

During week-days the egg curry with vegetables is even better! This curry is on sale from around 2pm till 4pm. It's sold out always by 4pm. Other curry is on sale till around 6.30pm

Never tried the meat curry but my friend has and reckons its awesome too.

Taste is more Indian than Chinese.

Easily the best curried food I've ever tried and that includes expensive restaurants.

Must try soon!

Be careful PM. They put a chemical in that curry to make you lose interest in the chemtrail truth.

Oh No Petie........ Remember that dodgy vegetarian pizza that sat you on your arse a while back?

It was caused by those nasty genetically modified Mon Santo vegetables, and I have it on good advice that they are now supplying IGA. These blokes are out to get you . . . . . Now that Bono’s gone I figured it was time for some funny vegetable pictures.

The last curry I had from IGA, I might as well have just tipped it straight into the toilet bowel and saved the time and pain.

^^^ but is it really?
"family owned" and less than a certain number of employees on the floor at any given time allows them to open 7days / 14hrs (or something)

That was designed to protect the mum n dad deli's from the big ones....... allowing the family stores to open more often.... IGA is pretty damn big now so I dunno if it is still within the spirit of the laws.

Years ago they were mum and dad independant shops but they have been owned by Metcash for years now. I think even Farmer Jacks (they have a good shop in Butler) is owned by Foodworks?

Unless you're shopping at the Spud Shed your still supporting huge companies.

^^ yeah and that's my point

They get longer opening hours and more days to help the "little" ones stay in business and they are not little any more

SpudShed is just one bloke fighting the potato marketing board for the last 20yrs so we shall see if he prevails. Seems to be going well so fingers crossed

More gravy than curry, but fill it up with deep-fried goodies... yum!

The world has evolved and changed for the better, in terms of cuisines. People mixed and matched their cooking styles and traditions, resulting in some rather pleasant surprises. People learned to cook from one another, from folks from various nationalities, and are not ashamed to copy from others. That I believe is good.

The well known cook/chef Rick Stein, went to India for a comprehensive study of Indian curries, and he came back with the conclusion that there is no such thing as a "curry" in Indian vocabulary.

I nicked the following words from a site "CookThink"...

"The word curry was invented by British colonialists in the 18th century. Most likely a bastardization of the Indian word kari (meaning sauce), it refers to a number of saucy dishes flavored with curry powder or curry paste."

So a meal sprinkled liberally with some curry powder, or spices, can be loosely called a "curry"!

Regarding Chinese meals, they are more than just rice and vegetables. There are many racial heritages in China, resulting in a diverse range of cooking styles as well. From the North, you have the hot and spicy Szechuan tuckers, to the mild but interesting cuisines in the South. Then there are the borders with Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, etc. They export their cooking styles to China and vice versa.

On a day like the AFL grand finals, cold footy pies and warm beer still trump !

Potato Marketing Corporation of Western Australia.
FFS!!!
If we ever think that it might be a good thing to reduce some of the mountain of bureaucracy in Australia this might be a good place to consider starting. None of the other states in Oz seem to feel the need to have a Potato Marketing Corporation....probably because their farmers are quite able to sort out their own businesses. I'm new to WA but the farmers that I've met seem very capable and I'd be pretty sure that they can work out which spuds to grow or not to grow...all on their own. How the hell did the PMC ever keep going anyway? It's not 1946 any more.

...from Wikipedia...
The statutory marketing body was created in 1946.[3] The PMC has 78 licenced growers in its books as of 2014.[3] They output 50 000 tonnes of potatoes to the market.[3] In 2004, there were 151 growers.[3] Further consolidation of growers is expected as the market changes due to technology and market pressures.[3] Over the years the PMC has been involved with dispute with some growers such as Spud Shed owner Tony Galati who are calling for the regulatory agency to be scrapped and allow free competition.[5][6] The WA state government has confirmed it will abolish the agency within two years.[7]

PMC ??? Give me strength.

Peters by the Sea in Scarborough, Perth have the same

basic hamburger that they have sold since about 1953.

No salad, just meat, bread, sauce and pickles. Not everyone's

choice but it works for me.

Oh and here is something on vapour trails.

The chemtrail threat in takeaway food can be managed - You just need to wear the right utensils......
