You want me to pick one.....
I starting thinking about this and then started thinking what is a rock ballad, to me it is a slow song with a bit of emotion, generally some sort of love song.
A few of my favs have already got a mention so I was trying to think of some others, for me, for personal reasons I can't go past the Hunters Throw Your Arms Around Me, there are heaps of versions (and covers Neil Finn did a beauty) but here is Mark Seymour.
For the record:
Ballad
A ballad is a form of verse, often a narrative set to music. Ballads derive from the medieval French chanson balladée or ballade, which were originally "dancing songs". Ballads were particularly characteristic of the popular poetry and song of the British Isles from the later medieval period until the 19th century and used extensively across Europe and later the Americas, Australia and North Africa.
So a dance, not necessarily fast or slow, or about love but just nice to listen to and makes you want to grab a partner and do the slow and funky in the slides or just listen to pensively.
Here's another fave.
