The appreciation of skill and scope that can only come across on stage. Getting face to face connects us to our fundamental communication instincts and somehow in the live setting, we can find common ground and inspiration.
I only ever saw Blue Man Group as a novelty and got dragged along kicking+screaming a few years ago. I saw a version of 'I feel love' ( the old Donna Summer+Gorgio Moroder song) and was floored. Loved the original but this stage version really was a lightning rod to my preconceptions about the group & covers. The video below is not the performance I attended but you get the idea.
