Surprised nobody has raised this. Is it just because you're all in WA?

Personally I'm strongly against it.

Please sign the petition if you feel the same.

Capital and the media that it employs is the power behind the fake democracy, you have one vote, AJ supposedly has the power to influence 2 million
just who the f*ck listens to commercial radio anyway?

mind you I'll probably be getting junk mail from change.org for the rest of my life and they'll still sell the naming rights to the opera house as soon as it occurs to them.

cant wait until crowded house gets back together again to play the Sydney China National Petroluem music hall

Wow! I was watching 'Rake' thinking that it was a heavily exaggerated version of politics.

Now I am thinking that they have gotten it spot on. Deals for this, deals for that. Siding with people who can help you.

That is just crap. Jones is a knobhead.

She has zero intestinal fortitude if she didn't stand up to him. Pretty poor form.

However flip side - people are against showing a big ad on the Opera House as its an aussie landmark? The true AJ haters will be frothing against it but many of them don't respect / want to change the flag, values, national anthem, Australia Day etc etc and want to do away with much of it.
If in their eyes the opera house is worth protecting and not the others, its a pretty sad state of affairs. Opera House rates higher than flag or anthem? sigh....

AJ at it again, you think he'd learn but his listeners just love this "bloodsport"

Rake must be about right FN. Another bit of TV gold is Utopia, I worked in the engineering/heavy construction industry and Utopia hits very close to the mark

What's next, we have Powerade signage on Uluru (Ayer's Rock for all you baby boomers)

off topic,... but just wondering if any lucky seabreezer been in that 100 000 crowd watching Thin Lizzy on the steps of the Opera House in 1978 ? The best TL live performance IMO.

I don't see why they have to actually use the projectors to light up the sails. I've seen the images being put on the sails a few times in the last couple of days on the TV news. Presumably done with Photoshop. Are thousands of people expected to go down to a rainy Circular Quay to look at the show for 10 minutes? I think not, so why can't they just fake it like the moon landings?
Maybe we could just project Alan "The Cuckoo Clock" Jones' ugly dial up there and have a public holiday in his honour.

On cricket and football games the advertising is often digital, i.e. the images from the sport have digital advertising overlaid on the sideline 'banners' so that they can create dynamic content or change it to whatever they want. Its quite clever in that it can appear to be real, static, or moving.

So, yes, you could just do the same. I expect though that the intent behind pushing for this race to be advertised in this way is to get advertising that no one can avoid and that will make all the news programs because of its location. If they really want advertising like that they should just do what everyone else does and pay for newspaper and TV ads.

(or make up some great fake news stories about someone painting the opera house...)

There's an unofficial protest tomorrow night with a few thousand people turning up with spot lights to try and ruin the projection. I've even seen an online request from "The Chaser" asking if anyone can lend them some outdoor projection equipment and a portable generator so they can join the protest.

Will be interesting to see who wins....official projection, or 3,000 people blasting hand held spotlights.

AJ is a knob - I get that, but is this really worth going down and protesting about? First world problems eh...

What, do you just sit on your thumbs until something gets to the level where your government is stealing money and running the country into the ground? No, if you see a problem and you have a voice, you use it. How else are you supposed to keep things in check? Little by little is the way things change, so little by little is the way to change them for the good.

Luckily younger people seem to have the energy to protest these things and the potential to change things. If they were the sort of people that sit still and whinge but don't protest, now that would be a problem.

I understand that Perth is a long way from Sydney, but it shouldn't stop people in Sydney protesting it.

Looks like The Chaser beat them to the punch.

There's a video in there of the "Advertise Here" banner they managed to project onto the sail.

What a great photo of rock music - anywhere. Other Australian rock photos that say something include Flea's grandmother at a RHCP concert in Melbourne and that happy woman doing a perfect selfie at a Springsteen concert - with Bruce looking at the camera.

People find the flag and anthem dull and in need of an update. That's not remotely the same as putting advertising on them,

(strawman something something)

Someone I know was a bureaucrat in Canberra on this and that working committee etc...

....he said you wouldn't believe how close these TV show piss takes actually are.... slightly exaggerated in parts mostly, but at times they don't go far enough!

He said the foxes in power are as more clever and more self obsessed than you could ever imagine.
