I recently returned from the US. One night my wife and I were seated at a large share table having a feed, five yanks total strangers joined our share table.All was going well with a lot of chatter between us until I said, how the hell out of all the US the best you could elect was Trump.The mood soon changed.My brother inlaw is a redneck and while he was visiting us here I mentioned the same but this time I said Thrump was a joke He went off like a cut rattle snake

It depends where you are when you bring it up. I was recently working on the west coast and asked who voted for Trump. Everyone said they had no idea, and were extremely embarrassed to have him as President.

I was in the Aloha state they were from the mainland.

Was in Chicago a few weeks ago for work and understanding how polarizing Trump is I was very careful when asking people about what they thought of the economy. Was amazed at how his detractors were so hateful of him with one taxi driver becoming physically abusive to his steering wheel while driving, which made the wife and I uncomfortable. While at the trade show the general feeling was business is buzzing and things are great.

I was in a taxi traveling from Boca Raton in about 1997 and i made a joke about Rodney King asking for his beating..Obviously joking once the taxi driver realised i was poking fun at the anti black movement, he kicked me out of the cab mid trip

Then last year in Japan at a share table, in a Mexican restaurant i made a joke about guns and crazy yanks (To an American who was living in Japan) well another big mistake

Nearly twenty years apart and both times wished id kept my mouth shut

The US economy is just more of the same. It's a continuation of the recovery under the previous administration. The best you can say about Trump's influence is that he hasn't ****ed it up yet, although he may have. The results of his dopy trade war haven't yet registered but he's already had to bail out farmers.

"Great" America is a country of relatively low wages, long hours, short vacations, second rate health care, and a comparatively short life expectancy. None of that appears to be changing. It's great for the plutocrats and elites though.

Speaking of elites I had to laugh when Trump was blowing smoke up the collective ass of his supporters at one of his rallies by telling them they are the elites. Chutzpah? He played them like preschoolers.

I crack up at everyone here talking about American politics and bashing Trump. The guy putting up daily shw clips taking it as real news. Considering they never said a bad word about bama and his **** ups and being hosted by unfunny south African and never saying a good word for Trump. And it is a false preconception that it takes a while for an economy to take off. The previous administration had 8 years to get things done and I went to an area in New York that once was thriving before 2008 and went in 2016 and it was a ghost town. Here it's turning around again.

While some of his Twitter is not very presidential, if you get upset with it, then you are a snowflake. Maybe we should worry more what's happening here than getting offended by American patriots.
