Anyone come across these Magnetic Roofing Shoes. I was looking for something with better grip while working of roofs. Yeah, yeah, I know about dunlop volleys, just try buying them. The soles aren't what they use to be.

Agree about the volleys they were out twice as fast now.

My problem lately is the heat coming through the shoes .

Trouble is they'd pick up all kinds of sharps and scratch up the roof like buggery.

no need for scaffolding either.
Plus you could just walk up the side of a garage, Wallace and Grommit style.

It is a hard way to earn money.
I'm glad somebody appreciates that .
My feet feel like I've been standing in a fry pan lately.
I really dont need scientific proof of global warming.
I live anecdotal evidence its happening or maybe im getting older .
Or both

When I first saw this post I thought it was going to be from Macro

I've done a lot of roofing in my time, and I would be worried about picking up all the swarf and scratching the roof too much.

Can vouch for engine drive belt spray on grip. Works amazing and I've used in on 30 degree pitch roofs. A colleague has the magnetic shoes, they a great idea too

They're a great idea but not practical
didnt put much thought into it until after I paid for them
magnets and metal filings on a new colorbond roof don't go well together
so I thought I'd just wear them on tiled roofs
jumped in ute with them on and must of picked up $20 bucks in loose change and everything else metal on the floor
yes they come with a supposedly stronger magnet to remove filings but doesn't work
now these shoes are dancing on the ceiling of my shed

volleys are old school
only volley classics have good grip but fall apart in no time
cheap volleys have synthetic grip and are useless

any of the work shoes/ runners with rubber soles and smooth grips are good

if ur slipping still due to pitch or dust
a light spray of contact adhesive will sort u out

light spray and let dry 45-60seconds and you'll be climbing walls

Would've been handy today... cleaning gutters full of leaves and mud.

Fine layer of, I'm guessing, faded colourbond paint on the corrugated sheets that were slippery as f**k no matter what shoes I used.

F**king neighbour with trees...

Ok I went & bought a pair because I had a cathedral pitch slippery as all .
zero grip .
All they do is pick up swarf & screws & when I wore them on a flat roof it's like each shoe weighs 10 kg .
Total fail except they are comfortable & toasty warm but if I want grip on a roof .
Im wearing volleys .
Handy for finding lost screws in the grass but .

Instead of magnetic you should be looking at Gecko shoes.
Works fine not only on metal roofing, ceramic tiles roof, solar panel root but also on the ceiling upside down.

never thought about special boots for roofs.I usually scuff my boots on rough concrete before going up the ladder, and walk on the tec screws , if the roofs wet, come back tommorrow.

Almost never go on the roof but how about mountain bike shoes designed for flat pedals, like a pair of Five tens? Flat, rubber and really sticky and they are comfortable and hard wearing.

Ok I'll have a look at the mountain bike shoes .
I do feel more attractive in them .
I also have magnets on my nail bag I use to hold pop rivets heaps easier to get one than in the pockets & because I'm using different colours I can see them to grab the right colour .

Chinese scientists have come up with a mega strong glue, that then dissolves and unbonds in water. Based on snail slime!!

Probably not not useful for roofing, but still cool!!

Now u can tie ur shoe to ur nail bag and have half a dozen different colours

if ur read my earlier post you would of saved urself $100

If u want good grip just make sure the Sole is rubber flat sole not synthetic

If I want better grip spray light amount of contact adhesive on ur shoe at top of the ladder
let dry for 45-60 seconds
works great on glazed tiles and colorbond

the magnetic shoes are great for swarth clean up

Or dancing on the ceiling ??
