Your not alone. There are OH&S videos on how to operate a box cutter, I kid you not!!!!
There are Safety Data Sheets for everything from toothpaste, dishwashing liquid, even fly spray. Work environments are and rightly so, should have gestapo-like OH&S guidelines, as you wouldn't believe how stupid people can be around work kitchens!
We arn't allowed to use box cutters at work they are not on the apporved safety knife list. I had to get a MSDS for Johnson & Johnsons no more tears baby shampoo.
I got to looking and just found MSDS for water and another for coffee beans, anyone know of any more stupid than those two?
What's the deal with regular testing of microwave ovens in work kitchens? When the door is obviously undamaged, and still closes neatly flush, where is the leak supposed to develop?

Havent you seen the movie the avengers?
I heard a story once. I cant verify the truth to it but I thought it be funny. Copper pulls over some dude for speeding. the bloke accepts the fine ans smiles. later turns up to the cop shop with a fine for the copper for not wearing hi vis while standing on the side the road. The bloke happened to be an ohs workplace inspector. Now days you see coppers with their cars only half pulled off the road when booking some one cause the car is suppose to protect them from the traffic.

We had one for wet concrete. It included a description of the symptoms if wet concrete is ingested. One of the steps to reduce this risk was a strong recomendation to not eat wet concrete. Very sound advise indeed. To this day I stick to that recomendation, and always advise people that are involved with wet concrete to not eat it.

And how then does one HTFU Poods?
^^^ Everyone knows not to 'eat' wet concrete to HTFU - that's just silly.
They simply need to 'drink' a cup of cement to HTFU.

My bad, I thought that when you ate the cement you had to drink a glass of water......have you seen the MSDS for water, that's dangerous stuff and I vow to never ingest any again!
Water is for pussies - drink dry cement (powder), that's what uncle chop-chop would recommend.
think I need to HTFU in that case.
Water may be taking it a bit far, but.....
Some may think that having a MSDS for every form of chemical in the workplace, or OHS policies for every activity is too much, but this thread reminded me of a time watching a clown get out of a still running Tractor and climb under a Slasher to remove some wire. To his credit he did take the hydraulics out of gear. When I mentioned his error, a very pi***ed off employee turned the tractor off and then climbed back under. So what was wrong this time? No hydraulic fluid holding up a slasher that was not proper up a stand.
If there is an MSDS or an OHS policy in place, its because some dingbat has managed to cause self harm or harm to others.
Im a big fan of OH&S, proper first aid training, MSDS and all the other stuff put together to keep us all safe and happy: what gets to me is all the idiots that only partially understand the substance and then make bad decisions, give bad instructions, apply pointless rules... Some people are so incompetent they make jobs more dangerous by incorrectly applying what they think are safety requirements.

Case in point, earthmoving machine at workshop with boom lift and bucket tilt cylinders removed. Boom sitting on top of post stands that had oval shaped tops. Boom weighed about 5 tonns.
Suggested to supervisor, (when I walked past), that the stands are supposed to have top hat cradles fitted, to prevent the flat faced boom underside rails (about 6" in width) boom from taking a small knock, and falling off the stands. And in fact if no work required until cylinders came back from repair shop, maybe lower the whole kit to the floor, and eliminate any issue.
Ol bright spark, claimed, there couldn't be a problem, as there wasn't a safe work procedure written about it. Couldn't see the risk.
He did lower the boom on my recommendation, soon as I got close up to his lug hole, to make the point firmly in said lug hole.
there was no MSDS anywhere to be seen at our local brothel.
like who knows whats in that sex Gel.
out of interest, can i sue bubbles if my balls start burning
