Go to work in the dark, home in the dark. Work in the dark, home in the dark. Motel rooms. Meetings. Angry people. Do more. Do it faster. Be more. You're late. It's wrong. It's not enough. You're not enough.

Finally a day at home. This arv no wind so grab the SUP. Little waves but loooong rides. No one else out. Boardies in May. Golden sunset. Dolphins. Silly grin. Bliss. Everything else is nothing.

How freaking lucky are we all to have the ocean?

Plus one needsalt

Leave home at 5.30 am and get home 5.50 pm 5 days a week - and then bring work home to do on the weekend - thanks to the boss at home who keeps the home fires burning

Haven't been near the water for months

Kids and I take sup and surfboards over to Stockton in tiny surf - dolphins, warm water, lots of laughs

First day off in a few weeks (self employed and also casual shift worker)...worked until midnight most nights last week after starting my job at 8am. Dragged my weary arse out of bed this morning to get to footy by 8am and watched my 10yo play and the following junior matches, home by midday for a 30min power-nap (while 3yo had a sleep and wife mowed lawn ), then packed family and sup and did a little bit of 4wd'ing to a secluded beach with some friends and enjoyed some magical little waves. Smiles all around.

Home for 3hrs sleep and now at work until 8am...followed by another early morn trip to the beach. Sunday arvo appt with pillow ready for tomorrow night shift...then back in my office by lunchtime Monday and the week begins again.

Are we Mad?
Work, work and more work!
Let's bring back the long lunch; time to eat, service the wife 'or car' and a nap.
Everything should close on Sunday!... Well not the hardware or other important places.
We're giving away the best years of our life's for some retirement when it's to late to do most things.

Apparently 70 is a good age to retire. Huge super, die at 71, government gets big inheritance tax payout without having to provide pension

work sucks , I agree last weekend for the grudgingly self employed----
knocked off at 11.00am packed car and daughters 650c roadbike, pick up early from school, 650km drive to get to saturday peel junior tour.
her first big comp.
3rd in the sprint
3rd in the timetrial, but time was up there with the best of the boys
3rd in the road race.
then got a day with 2x nannas,KFC on the road for the drive home.
weekends like that make me love my job

+1

It sounds freakishly familiar.

Nothing like a sail or paddle on the weekend to tune out and stop stressing, if only for a brief amount of time, and put some larger perspective on life

Its 944 pm and I dont finish work till 1am. So yep, work sucks but atleast when it returns to summer I have my days free for the beach. Not a fan of cold and wet days.
