We are relocating from Perth to Wellington at the end of July. Wondering if anyone had an recommendations good/bad of companies relocating household items either from AU to NZ or vica versa? Also what happened about import tax/gst or customs charges?

I don't know if that is true. I think the Perth economy is slowing down and the NZ economy is speeding up.

At one point I read that parts of NZ were crying out for workers as they had some spending programs happening in Government areas.

back-loading rates between NZ and W.A. should make the freight cheaper.

Thanks very much Ted!

The golden times in WA are now over... The downturn in the resources sector means mass redundancy on a daily basis. 2nd hand market for toys is going strong with all the FIFO/Cashed up bogans selling off their stupid purchases.

Why not move to New Zealand... wages are on par with Australia now, PAYE tax is lower, no capital gain tax, government in surplus, house prices outside of Auckland are very reasonable and more importantly no stupid WA drivers.

Wellington's not the worst place you could go, but beware it is pretty gloomy over winter.

The good news is, if you are a hardcore kiter or windsurfer you will get heeeeeaps of days on the water (get a good wettie)

There is also some nice waves over Wairarapa ways.

Good pubs and cafes. I have friends living over Mana ways, not traditionally the flashest suburb, but they scored an epic house with amazing sea views, overlooking an amazing kite spot.

Enjoy!

Edit: This is the current weather situation

Instead of getting everything there , isn't it much easier to send an add to Gumtree/TradeMe

Swap over deal ? Home and other stuff with Kiwi coming here ?

I heard Kiwi wife's don't cook , so you could take yours with you.

Just advertise all of your stuff for sale on Gumtree & Carsales.
Someone who is working for an overseas agency and cannot get to the phone will email you with an offer to pay more than you are asking and arrange to freight it all there for you as long as you pay their freight forwarder a nominal amount
