These holidays, please remember not to use your phone while driving.

Safe travels.

"These holidays" !!! Anyone who touches their phone while driving is a total F wit . It beats me that people still have to be told . The penalties are totally inadequate

Totally agree. Getting caught using a phone in a vehicle should carry a mandatory 12 month loss of licence along with a huge fine IMO.

In my Falcon ute is my favorite toy, under the tray a large air tank and a compressor, behind the grill 2 sets of truck twin air horns, in the center glove box 3 switches that vary the amount of annoyance I want to be on dip sticks and their phones,....seriously the only time I use it.

at the very least - instant confiscation and destruction of the phone, might make drivers think before messing with their phone/tablet or whatever.

I don't think I can remember the last time I drove in traffic and didn't see someone on a phone. Given the huge statistics on the impact of texting and driving, I think there should be plain clothes police driving around all day fining every person they see. They'd easily pay for themselves, and it would only be a week or so before word spread around and people would be scared to text and drive.

I have been thinking for a while we just need to make it unacceptable.
Start a movement - everytime we see somebody on a phone we honk heaps and point them out. Really, we are just warning other drivers about the presence of an idiot nearby.....
Once the majority of people are doing it the shame factor will stop a lot of them.

Saw a classic on Saturday. Heading south from Bunbury to Busso. A Cop was coming up behind fast lights flashing and sirens blazing making is way through the traffic. A bloke on a phone in the right hand lane slightly in front of me had no idea cops where behind him wanting to get past until they overtook him in a right hand turn lane. He will probably get his ticket in the mail.

What's so special about the holiday... touching your phone while driving makes you a F wit EVERY DAY.
And why stop at the phone; the radio, the GPS, messing with your little F wit in the back seat...

You really should include ciggie butts out the car window on your list. I always honk/glare at them...

Once you are inside your car, many people believe...
(1). You are invincible
(2). You are the king/queen of the castle
(3). You don't give a stuff about others because you can
(4). You are super clever, being able to do many things all at once. Driving, listening to music, watching traffic, f-around with the phone
(5). Left all semblance of intelligence at home !

One of the things I noticed is when you have a conversation with your passenger, the driver is likely to turn to look at the passenger for a few seconds, even in traffic. Is that necessary ? A mate once commented the fact that I don't turn around and look at him while talking to him. He said his brother did the opposite all the time, and it scared the crap out of him.

It is all good. Responsible citizens trying to pull the notty one in line. However, you might find yourself having an out of control meth-head smashing your windscreen in for what you did. I suppose you can accelerate and turn him/her into a pile of minced meat ?
