Hows the supermarkets form, leaving massive stalks on the veggies so you pay for inedible stalk at the check out.

So I just snap the long bit off.

And put it through as a cheap banana. Two can play the game

How's the supermarkets for ripping you off! Bananas? I don't eat the skins, so I am going to peel them instore and just take the good stuff with me in a plastic bag (as long as they are free!).

You should see me with the kiwi fruit. I don't eat the skins of those either, so I peel them in store and then charge them as broccoli!

Okay, supermarket cuts all the stalks off, but still needs to earn the same money, so has to increase the cost per kilo to make the profit.

No need to take your own. Buckets and brushes in the laundry aisle; bottles of water in the drinks aisle.

Beachmere IGA employees are pretty "woke" these days Bristol. They are currently "on point" in their efforts to catch the "Polident Bandit" so I'd get busted in a jiffy for any attempt at washing spuds with bottled water and not paying for it

You are not taking the water with you though, so it should be okay. Make sure you go to a place with towels though, as you don't want to weigh those potatoes with a bit of water and pay extra.

I remember seeing someone in a supermarket remove the green vine bits from a bunch of tomatoes. I thought at the time they were going to try and pass them off as the cheaper tomatoes instead of the hydroponic ones, but maybe they were just 'saving weight'?

The lengths people go to for a 5c saving on tomatoes astounds me. Polident, well that's a little more expensive than tomatoes so fair cop.

This needs to be looked into, poor consumer getting shafted again. Why aren't the major news outlets onto this the thread title would make a great headline and get Australia discussing this big ripoff.

Dont get me started on tinned asparagus! I pay top dollar for a tin that weighs what it says on the label, open it up, and every single time, its got water in it! I am paying for water.

What has this world come to??

That's nothing, I saw a bottle of water in a store the other day, and all it had in it was water!

Worse than that even, there was air at the top of the bottle, am I paying for that as well?

Spare a thought for ribs.

Bloody little rippers are almost all bone.

How dare the evil supermarkets leave the inedible bones in.

Bloody rort that is.

Well at least it had what it said on the label. Did your 'water' have any asparagus in it?

No, but right next to the bottles of mineral water were filters I could buy that would remove the minerals from the water, so I bought one of each just to be safe.
