Which country is safer?
1) One the have the more criminals in the prison already? ( in hope that they are taken off the streets)
2) one that doesn't have many criminals at all - so prisons are almost empty?

statistically
In Denmark: One in 1827 citizen spend a winter time in warm prison
In Australia: One in 597 mates is deprived of access beaches and fresh air
In USA: One in 141 may enjoy safe sex in safe places only.
BTW: Looks like cold outside doesn't mean cold blood at all.
Per capita in Greenland 1 in 457 is cold blood criminal as against 1 in 597 warm-blooded Aussie crooks.

High crime usually goes hand in hand with high inequality

Getting safer every day there.I think we could attribute this to old white generation dying out and now new white immigrants coming.

I wonder how you could achieve such miracles like 37,000 drops in the prison population in one year?
How could you dispose of thirty-seven thousand bodies that quickly?
But South Africa could serve us interesting example. The reason for the high crime was exclusive while population there.
They did amass great wealth.
The wealth was a big magnet for the robber.
You remove that wealth completely and suddenly there is not a reason to rob them anymore.

Don't know if you have ever lived or been to RSA.
But going to prison there is virtually a death sentence.
Rape is very common in RSA prisons even for people held in remand that can't pay bail.
HIV or Aids is rampant.
It is estimated that 80% of all prisoners have HIV.
Almost all deaths not from violence are due to HIV.
That might help to explain why there was a 37000 drop in prison numbers in one year

You may have 80% chance your token will be infected by the virus, 15% that token will rape you while you sleeping or at the shower, 1% that you strike a gold or diamond with this token.

The OP doesn't take into account the various judicial systems, and how they work, so the choices between 1) and 2), can't be relevant.

You call this system but in some cases, it is a simple business. If you have 2,300,000 prisoners in US that means that double that lawyers had a well-paid job.Assuming that half success rate another two and half million remained free of the bars.So whole so-called "judicial systems" in use US must be just a farce, money spinner for a smart lawyer that could sue now everybody on everything.Sue you for things you did or you didn't.
Like a poker game- lawyers lands in prison those that run out of money to bet on justice.
If NRA had such a voice over all politician lets imagine what this army of the lawyers in the US can do?
Why build something or make something useful if you could sue somebody that did and get money from them.
Let's see how it works:Lady did something nice to Trump. She gets paid few hundreds of even thousand dollars. She asks for more after all happen - so lawyer gives her another $130,000 to keep mouth shut. She wants even more now, so lawyers again spin the table ask $20,000,000 now money back.
Show me the example of stock market investor or builder or corporate that will bring you a better return on investment the "justice business in US( ?)
Like casinos. Whether sue anybody- always layer of both sides are paid, there are a winners
