While looking at windsurfing vans in the forum, I stumbled across this from 2016.

www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/General-Discussion/Chat/Ugly-Cars-Which-is-the-Ugliest-you-have-seen?page=1

Are there any new winners?

For me, this had to be the all time winner. Why design a wagon when you can just wack a bit onto the sedan or hatch.

Yeah, can't say I am a fan either. I think I would prefer a car that looked less like a Mazda.

Its a shame they didn't spend enough money making a version that catered more for the local market, but I guess the way it works now is globalisation.

I hope GM have some sort of compensation or buyout plan for their dealer network, as I'm predicting they'll all be broke in under 5 years.

Gm have done a lot of damage to their brand over the years with poor quality imports.
Lots of rebadged Daewoo's , ie;
Barina, 1 star safety death trap.
Epica, complete fail.
Captiva, my neighbor had a diesel one that the valve train fell apart on at 100k. Serviced by Holden but they didn't want to know about it.
Astra, 100k timing belt interval, snapping at 60!

People loved commodores because they were big, powerful, comfortable, reliable cars which few of their imports have even come close to.

*edit. Just looked up Holden's sales figures and it seems the public are voting with their wallets. They are down in 10th place which is the worst since 1948.

If they do survive it will be with a much smaller dealer network and I'm sure many of them are working on an exit plan.

I dropped my car off at a dealer early this morning for a service. There's about five dealerships side by side and I was quite surprised how empty their lots were of both new and second-hand stock.

Nah, its more like the user manual goes on for pages and pages and tells you about how good it is so that you have something to read when it lets you down on the side of the highway.

The irony of your great life being reduced to sitting in the gutter to read about my treacherous life........ still, its a great read, heaps of pictures of boobies, high level boxing and windsurfing, drugs and orgies.......
its a highway buddy.........I wanna ride it all night long........but not in the DALE, I'd rather stick to my usual ride, a small donkey while facing backwards.....

I think they have a problem with their understanding of the car:

"Easy to charge overnight. This will go great with your solar system"

I'm not knocking it I want one cheep to run Just ugly

I suspect that they are probably on the SEVS list, so you could probably import one, hopefully cheaper. There is a category for efficient or electric vehicles, so this one probably falls into it. Get in before they change the rules!

(It is on the list - www.j-spec.com.au/lineup/all/Minicab/MiEV/info/id-B91 )

A 350kg payload? It must be tiny.

prestigemotorsport.com.au/auction-vehicle-display/?car_id=dpVLYRYsK4h6L

Hmmm... sort of tempting. Probably around $10K imported and complianced, and incredibly cheap to run... Roof racks?

It's a "Kei" car. Here (in Japan) there are different tax brackets for different "classes" of vehicles. Kei is up to 660cc and within a certain weight, height and width, so they tend to be boxy to the max to make up for the lack of internal space. They're very, very common due to the cost and other legal advantages ie. you need to have a carpark (checked by the police) if you get a "regular" car.

Our first car here was based on that chassis (they just bolt on different bodies) and was called, I kid you not, a Mitsubishi Minica Toppo BJ. It was tall enough that I could stand up inside it without stooping. 3-cylinder 660cc EFI DOHC intercooler turbo, 3-speed auto. Speedo stopped at 140kph but on the highway it just kept going past that :D

As cool as it was, I always wanted a Suzuki Every Joypop Turbo Max, just for the name... But yeah, there are hordes of 'kin ugly cars here that never get exported.

It seems you can get an electric van imported from Japan too. The older ones are not as expensive either.
