Imagine if you can
out on the lawn
the shadowy shape
of a unicorn
The noble head
the mighty neck
the sinew, hoof
the horn,the fleck
And there behind
there stands another
a quivering fawn,
then graceful mother
And more appear
beyond the mist
a gathering horde
too great to list
And if seen a-
-loft, Like a bird
in the distance
a mighty herd
Striding as a
horn-ed rank
wither to wither
flank to flank
Then clearly there would
be a need
to lighten the load of
bush and seed.
To save the forests
from hoof and spar
then build a
unicorn abattoir
There in the stores
and corner shops
see, unicorn steaks
and unicorn chops
The horns ground down
for blood and bone
packed in bags
and mixed with loam
When sprinkled on our
brightest flowers
they bloom in minutes
not days or hours
The forests now cleared
of this horny bane
a strange occurrence
when it rained
In clearing cloud
of morning haze
a rainbow arc
a coloured blaze
That seems to end
viewed from afar
on the roof of the
unicorn abattoir
stuff about a unicorn abbatoir
my 4y/o daughter would be inconsolable if she could read that
