I will shortly (hopefully) semi retire, which will enable me to increase my time on the water SUPping, windsurfing etc. Unfortunately I will still be on-call. I need a way of receiving messages while I am on the water to let me know whether I need to rush to land due to an emergency or if I have an hour or so before I need to come in.I am looking for a waterproof watch I can wear that support 4G so I can put a cheap SIM card in it. Then if people need me they can text me a messages letting me know how urgent the problem is etc...I see various models on EBAY and elsewhere, but was wondering if any of you had any experience with them.Ideally the watch would vibrate as well as ring when I receive a message. It doesn't have to work as a proper phone but that would be a bonus.Looking forward to your comments.regards Tony.

I suggest to have a cheap phone in a paqua arm strap. I used the bigger size and put the phone in a clamp style case and then in a paqua (they all work fine till they get old, one leak and they're gone) I kited this way for many years and it can submerge fine. Can take calls through plastic and the caller can't hear wind noise. And you can see who is calling and screen your calls. You'll be pissed if you come in just to find anz wants to offer you life insurance .
We're using cheap smart phones (office works has Pixie 3s for $40), as a gps now, they fit in a paqua midi fine. with water proof blue tooth earphones you can listen to your favourite music and answer calls.
I've been using paqua midis for years, they don't suddenly fail, there's hard plastic strips you roll the opening around. the plastic around these strips gives out first, then the hard plastic strips fall out. At this stage the pouch is no longer fully water proof, it will get a bit damp in there if you wipe out. So the trick is to replace the pouch once the plastic around the strips starts to tear.
<div>That sounds like a much cheaper option than the likes of these which I was looking at.

iv'e seen a guy use a food vacuum thingo, it might have been on seabreeze. works perfectly and water proof. Could be cheaper than forking out for a $1K phone.
