Not really sure why I'm posting this on here. But its the only forum I religiously read, and I kind of feel like I know a lot of you. Forum personas an all..

Maybe I'm an odd ball. But the current state of the world has me quietly ****ting my pants. I won't lie this all started with Donald Trump being elected president. But ever since my whole outlook on life has just turned into one anxious mess. Work, Uni, kids, family. Whats the use?

What am I looking for out of this thread? I have no idea. Some sort of reassurance that WW3 isn't just around the corner. Some sort of educated sounding opinion that doesn't read like the comment section of YouTube/ mainstream media.

If you are after reassurance, you have definitely come to the wrong place.

I think your fear is based on

1. Media hype and bull****, they love dishing out melodramatic half truths or twisted truths, If you switch off from watching/listening to news broadcasts and cut down drasticlly on social media sites, a sense of normality will take over,

2 The world has not had a leader like Trump before and because the media suck up to him they dont know how to react to him so build their own clap trap. Personally I think he will turn out being on one the most important presidents/leaders that America has ever seen/had.

3 Concentrate on building stronger bonds with your wife/partner and (hopefully) kids work on the important people in your life.

4 I dont think there will be a WW3 at least not in the way we believe. We think that war will start the way they have before but all the leading powers have enough nuclear **** to eliminate the whole earth not just their enimies but they are too scared to hit the button due mainly that if something goes wrong its their head the **** will land on. The world will not end by astroids hitting the earth either.

My parents and to some extent my grandparents had the same fears as you/we do... relax brother, live here and now and turn off your screens for a while if they're bothering you...

Yeah, I agree 100%.

I remember listening to my grandmother say 'I am glad I am not in your generation, all the fears and problems' or words to that effect. She grew up in a time when lots of curable diseases could kill you, when health care was nowhere near as good as it is now, and living to an old life a random shot.

I think we have it good. Health care has never been so good.

One thing I noticed with my grandmother was that she always watched the news on TV. I don't. Its depressing. I think it gives you a depressing view of the world.

As a counterpoint, when I was removing the carpet in my house I found a lot of newspaper from when they used it as underlay for carpet. There were stories in it which showed the usual local problems, fights, murders, but the international news was always delayed and written up.

Now, you see the international news instantly and in graphic detail. It can make you feel a little bit anxious about things that would have been happening before.

Don't worry about Trump. Give him long enough in office and he will realise the same things that all politicians do, that there is no simple solution and that there is always a trade-off. He can't discount Mexico and China. The USA needs them both.

So, in summary, watch less TV news, and windsurf or kitesurf instead. Its far better for your personal wellbeing.

The tragedy of war is that the young men and women die fighting each other - instead of their real enemies back home in the capitals.

The main stream media runs all the paranoia in the world today, and yesterday as well. Ronald Reagan was absolutely going to start WWIII, there was no question about it.................... We're still here.

Totally agree FN. I get all my news from the Internet, where you can choose which stories click, and a bit from ABC AM radio too.

I'm always shocked at how bad the nightly TV news is, and I'm finding the same thing now my new workmate wants to listen to commercial FM radio all day.

They really focus on violence, death, and drugs. The lead stories are totally different to what I receive.
It's an editorial decision, it's always a positive decision taken by someone in the chain of command.

I can't understand:
a/ why people are interested in the fact that some random at the other end of the state died in a car crash
b/ why people choose to subject themselves to an hourly dose of this grimly excited recounting of the latest death/drugs/violence.
c/ how this doesn't affect the mood of the whole population for the negative.

Sounds like you are suffering from depression. Try some exercise and maybe see a professional.

I woke up this morning, looked in the mirror and saw it was me not somebody else. I looked out the window and saw it was Australia not somewhere else.

I smiled and thought that is a good start to the day and I am going to live the bejesus out of it.

Unfortunately you invested your emotional intellect in leftist, globalist, feminist propaganda funded by international elites. They lost the election so they're investing in making YOU feel like the end of the world is tomorrow.

While I can't tell you WW3 won't happen, I can tell you some things that have always preceded wars between well matched adversaries.

1.- Propaganda to polarise societies... who kicked this off?
2.- Economic sanctions or trade wars... Trump and some Europeans are talking about easing sanctions on Russia.
3.- Abrupt power/ideology shifts.
4.- Economic warfare.
5.- Military build ups on both sides... Trump is trying to bring the troops back from the Russian border.

So while the "doom's day clock" is supposedly closer than ever, it's total BULL, bcos Hillary was a war monger and the people who controlled her party would have increased pressure on Russia, and Russia couldn't afford to back down.

Right now there isn't the cohesive ideology to start a world war, just lots of little flash points.

Big thank you to everyone who replied. Quite a bit of good reading.

Oh and I probably should say I'm definitely not against Trump. In fact his take on the whole 'Russia' situation put me at ease for awhile. But that only last so long as along comes another news article, its never ending. Russia and Nato, south china sea, Iran, Syria, Ukraine, trade wars. And as Flysurfer said that bloody 'Dooms Day Clock'.

Its all just kind of overwhelmed me and to a point where it is controlling my life. People have probably got a bit of laugh out of this thread. But actually sitting down and typing this out. And reading other peoples views. Has really showed me that this isn't normal, and that it might be time to go get some help of sorts.

Time for a media black out me thinks.

Yeh bud lay off mainstream media man it will poison your mind. Which is its ultimate intention.

Even if their is WW3 (Not sure what that would look like to be honest) is there anything you can do about it?

Do something good for someone else today (serve) with no need for a return, best remedy for fixing those mind games.

We came this || close. Due in part to Reagan era antagonism.

That's the point, they (people with money and power who usually control a lot of media assets) are trying to control you with fear... politics of fear.
The reality is your biggest physical threats are disease, and injuries.

The closes we came to nuclear confrontation was when Stanislav Petrov, a former lieutenant colonel of the Soviet Air Defence Forces ignored an early warning system and his orders to retaliate in 1983.

You'll know where in deep crap in the next conflict by mass cyber attacks... stuxnet derivatives will really hurt global systems (thank Israel).

There is a school of thought that we have been in WWIII ever since shortly after 911, the world war on terror.
It doesn't fit the classic view of war because the enemy is hard to define due to the lack of uniforms, and that the enemy is probably in the majorities of countries world wide.
It all depends on how you would define a world war.

If there is a WW3 I don't think man to man combat will be used. It will be a war of missiles. And won't have anything to do with invading lands to take ownership like the old wars. More of a bitch fight and retaliation.
