I was subcontracting for some idiots and after 6 months working for them I felt unnecessarilly pressured when I was told that I wouldn't be paid until they got paid. So I quit and said I wouldn't do any more work until I got paid for work already completed.

So a few days later they pull out the contract that required me to give 14 days notice to quit bla bla bla.

Despite me issuing final demands for about $3k in unpaid work, seems I'm not going to get anything.

But I have some tricks up my sleeve. They were sharing huge amounts of confidential ecommerce customer and payment data with me - hundreds of thousands of customers - and I'm sure they were subcontracting work out to me without their clients authority. I have this data on my computer.

I'm still thinking about this week's later.

Should I contact their client and tell them I possess their data and try and get these idiots fired and risk prolonging this bad relationship. Or should I just lick my wounds and move on?

I do like the idea of revenge.

Go see a lawyer about whether the contract has a valid penalty for what you did.

Don't worry about revenge. It might feel good but in the long run probably won't help that much.

Do not contact their client and do not tell anyone you have sensitive data.
1.- Adhere strictly to your contract or proposal, highlight if they're not.
2.- Avoid any negative actions towards them. Always take the high road.
3.- Politely remind them of their payment obligations. If the contract isn't clear then you need to amend before signing.

I've experienced contracts where payment was delayed for over 9 months, even when my contract said 2 weeks with an ASX listed healthcare company. I escalated my reminders until it reached the CEO, who then instructed their finance department, "X has waited long enough for payment of invoices X.... Pay him now." I got paid ~21 days later.
If you end up not getting paid, make sure the contract is more explicit and then take them to court yourself unless the amount is in the $100k's.
Nagging is quite effective, as anyone who lives with a woman knows.

Nearly damn near killed a guy over $30 once. Still makes me angry and i wish i had of.

3 grand you should probably just blow up there cars or something

I wouldnt be able to focus or sleep if someone owed me 3k for work thats like a full week doing something i hate rather then doing something i love.

Figure out what they love doing and make them do what they hate doing for a week

Eye for an eye

I saw my lawyer and was told it would be very difficult to enforce payment as the two partners live in different states to me. I'm very tempted to get revenge, but in the long term, for my own health, I should just let go of it.

I have done buckets of nagging and complaining. I haven't stuck to any of these points, Apart from not contacting their client, but have threatened to do that. I have even looked at selling the databases on the dark web.

There is plenty of damage I could cause them and their clients, but despite the temptation, I'm reluctant to do that, as it won't get me what I'm owed and will just make the hole I'm digging deeper.

Yes it has been eating me up. Years ago I had the address of my employer and wrote C(!)NT on his verge using round up. I don't have home address of these people, but have nearly spent the same amount of effort complaining about not being paid than the time I spent doing the work.

I really thought a child had hacked your phone.
Write a letter of demand. If payment isn't received within 30 days as you would demand, file a writ at your local arbitration tribunal or similar court. That's it.

Fine just "don't" kneecap him. Or maybe "don't" empty a concrete truck into his car. And definitely "don't" find him in the nighttime, jump through his windscreen, roll his car over sideways superman style and club him as he tries to escape. Don't do that.
Also "don't" piss in the cab of his truck.

So what your saying is.... dont pile up 50 used mattresses from the front of theyre boundry but stagger the stack so each one is counterleavering to build a giant pyramid of bed bugs that inevitably reaches theyre roof and over it put an add in the paper for free babysitting and call it the stairway to bevan and airtask some bloke called bevan to sit ontop of a chimney to give free financial advice while makeing sure the kids dont fall into said chimney

Ai didnt see. To like my idea ....

I think you're joking, but just to clarify, I'm not endorsing or encouraging any activities that involve:
- Creating a giant pyramid of mattresses potentially infested with bed bugs

- Offering free babysitting services in a hazardous environment

- Putting children near a chimney or any other dangerous location

- Providing financial advice from a precarious position on top of a chimney

Please prioritize safety, hygiene, and responsible behavior in all your endeavors!

Oh man! We'd never thrown an aerosol in the fire before. The ****ing mattress pile caught fire. Kinda reminiscent of this.
