I was at the checkout when I said to my self hey that's a bit expensive for that size steak (didn't check before, it just looked good)... so I asked the checkout lady to weigh it and it was 310gr with packaging vs the 510grs on the package.

So I said hey wait a minute... then she starts acting like I was being unreasonable and said the package weight is different than the real weight, and I said yeah it should be ~20grs less.

So she called over the manager... 20 minutes later they give it to me for 1/2 price.

How often do the get away with it? It wouldn't be such a big deal if the farkers didn't have a duopoly... they don't even have a policy for addressing wrong weights. If the marked price is different to the till price you get it free.

Thats a bit of a rip off. What do you do though? Perhaps if its a common practice getting a set of electronic scales that run on batteries would be the go. Video the difference between the listed and actual and then post it on utube as you have done?

The ACCC should be onto this.

It is all due to the extended trading hours

Seriously though - Dept Consumer Affairs / Fair Trading has a weights and measures division (they do all the stuff like calibrating fuel pumps at servos etc amd have an enforcement role) SO I would dump them in it in an instant.

if it was a little bit out you could understand, but 310 vs 510 is obvious and they should be fined.

make your own prices up at the selfserve checkout, works for me. Its not stealing anymore than your video, just a price or weight mistake. Put a few items down as potato, if it makes you feel better. What can they really do you're still paying for the item

It is called fraud. Obtaining a benefit (to you) or causing a detriment (to them) by deceit.

Agreed,fair enough it's fraud
So Flysurfers going to get in a fraud trial with woolworths over 3 dollars, it aint going to happen.

No he doesn't "get in a fraud trial" as that is was Dept Consumer Affairs do - they are the prosecuting authority who dlla with the matter on the consumer's behalf.
He rings them, and they deal with the supermarket who are selling stuff underweight. Pretty simple and not all like the consumer "getting involved in a fraud trial over $3"

If everyone had that attitude all of the retailers would be selling underweight stuff. Oh hang on, maybe they are and consumer apathy as displayed by your post is the reason?

So the water sports connection here is despite the conspiracy with Coles and Woolworths defrauding us with incorrect weights and measures, it does concern the food we eat which of course gives us the energy we need to participate in the aforementioned "water sports".

Would that be correct??

Excuse me for drifting "off topic" here but I thought everybody knew the "Coles/Woolworths Duopoly Conspiracy" has been ripping us of for years and so is hardly worth discussing on a "wind sports" forum in the "General Discussion/Shooting the breeze" section of the overall forum.

Within the "Wind Surfing Section" there are 10 sub sections.

Within the "Kite Surfing Section" there are 12 sub sections.

Within the "Surfing Section" there are 3 sub sections.

Within the "Stand Up Paddle Section" there are 4 sub sections.

"Sailing" has 0 subsections, "Land Yachting" 5 sub sections and "Land Kiting" 3 sub sections.

The "Seabreeze Forum" appears to have an abundance of areas where water and wind sport specific topics may be discussed.

As we should all know, there are left and right brain thinking people and I am fortunately blessed with the ability to switch between the two as well as being ambidextrous.

So my left brain (the logical side) is unable to logically come to terms with a "General Discussion" forum that is restricted to "water sports".

Call me Pauline if you like but I have to ask the question "Please explain??"

Cisco, get over it.

General discussion is for anything and is not restricted to watersports.

Until a few people post the same stuff over and over again and it become inflammatory.

This thread is fine, until somebody posts daily about how bad Woolies is, then Laurie may ban talking about Woolies.

The way you and Doc are posting about "watersports only" I wonder why you don't leave for good if you guys are so unhappy about the rules?

If your buying your meat from the supermarket you are looking to get ripped off in more than just weight. Price and quality are aways more than the local Butcher.

When they checked the weight of your steak, did they put a calibration weight on the checkout to make sure it was accurate? People might have been getting there fruit and veg cheaper all day.

^Goes wiothout saying, a private butcher (shopowner) has a vested interest in looking after you. They need all the support you can give them. Woollies and Coles are an obsenity.

I'll be using that self checkout thing from now on... mango = potato or was it tomato = potato... all very confusing.

They wana do something about it, I have my counter claim.

BTW: the steak was awesome. Butcher steak is better than the usual woolies stuff, this wasn't the usual stuff... tastes better than Wagyu, and I cut it with a butter knife (cos the others were in the dish washer).

If there was a hard and fast set of rules to follow and those that breached them were penalised it would be dead easy and there would be no bitching from me but you guys just make up the rules as you go along.

You have "double standards" all over the shop.

If an individual is not interested in "Chem Trails", "911 was an inside job", "Delica vs Troopy" or any other topic, why in the name of sanity would that individual enter into the discussion.

I am not interested in surfing/wind/kite/SUP so I don't even look in those forums let alone make any comment in them. Why would I??

There ya go. You answered your own question.
