Clear as mud?

The same thing happens on my S7, the ad also keeps "sliding" across the screen. Restarted my phone and it still happens.

I like the current look. For me the new look is a bit 'wishy-washy'. I'm sure there's lots behind it, but I'm not a fan of the theme.

Is there a way to keep both and have one as seabreeze and the other one as kiter.com.au?

Overall I prefer the new, "cleaner" look.

Pros:
- Especially like the "select to expand quote" feature. Godsend.
- More modern look.

Not Sures:
- The new typeface. It's neither better nor worse. Maybe less contrast between the text and the background (common trick)?
- Make usernames bold.

Cons:
- (Still) too much space between paragraphs.
- How do I 'quote' someone?
- Still not enough wind.

Suggestions:
- Seasonal backdrops or something.

Unappealing and bland,
Sorry, probably just me, I like lots of colour and info.
If you know me in person, then its on or off for me, no in-between.

May I ask which bit you refer to? i.e. In the forum topics, did you click the "Detailed" button to turn on all the "stats"? Each page should have exactly the same info as before; nothing less (with the exception that the first line of a classified description isn't listed in the previews on the right hand column) .. have I missed something, somewhere? Let me know, if so...

Ironically, the new design has more colours! (previous was just shades of blue ... orange, green & red have been added).

New design is also more spacy; I've been using it for quite some time now, and initially it was a shock, but am finding it really clean & easy to get around now, without the visual mess of compressed info and grey lines running up/down/left/right eveywhere!

Hope you grow to like it, as I have.

Front page on forums is too bland.
Sorry, but you did ask

Hey Mineral - the front page has had work done to make it less "bland", but the term "bland" is a bit hard to pin down to specifics, but I get the vibe .. have a squiz and see what you reckon. ... just remember to click that "Detailed" button if you want last poster, page numbers or all the other stuff to be visible.

Definitely I did ask, and really appreciate honest, direct, specific feedback that something can be done about. The more wishy washy the feedback, the less chance of hitting the goal.

Hehe .. I wrote "wishy washy" above before reading your post.

The main differences between the old & new is the removal of heaps of grey vertical & horizontal lines ... to me, it was starting to look a bit too much like a spreadsheet. However, have just reinstated a few horizontal grey lines and also darkened up a few fonts, so they don't blend into the background so much... let me know what you think.

Regards kiter, are you saying that you think the kiter site is not wishy/washy/bland? Why would you want to use that one? (as a windsurfer!)

lol. I wrote the "wish washy" comment above before reading yours.

Here's the thing: saying something is "bland" or "wishy washy" .. the specific difference between the themes is :

1) the removal of heaps of grey lines running horizontally & vertically everywhere
2) font sizes are all over the place due to a hack to get the forums to work at all on mobiles (old tech)
3) font colours were a bit lighter

To make it less "wishy washy", "bland", it's now:

1) Got a few horizontal grey lines re-instated
2) font colours were darkened so they were so light in colour

Found an error .. the folding quotes seems to fold them all up ... you'll need to click "expand" to see my reply above (until that error is fixed)

Just a note: This is not some site with a million layers between you and what happens - you have a direct line to development, and as you've seen, much of your feedback has already been integrated, and it's not all finished by a long stretch.

So ... if something is on your mind about how it looks, share it.. it will get read, it will get reviewed, and if possible, your feedback will be built into the new site...

Noooo! Copy and paste of the wind graphs doesn't seem possible in the new layout.

Is there a way to do it?

Update installed this morning, which greatly improves quoting, and display of quoted text. You can (should be) able to switch between the rich text editor/plain text editor reliably without any loss of content, and lots of other little tweaks around the place.

To display the wind graphs in the old bitmap format, add "?renderMode=0" to the Url.

e.g.

When looking at your favourite graph page, go up to the address bar, and add "?renderMode=0" to the url, like this:

This URL:
www.seabreeze.com.au/weather/wind-forecast/perth

becomes
www.seabreeze.com.au/weather/wind-forecast/perth?renderMode=0

.. and voila .. bitmap graphs you can copy/paste.

Sorry, not possible at the moment, but a good idea - not everybody is interested in that column, and it takes a lot of space.

So .. apart from:

1) the jumpy/blurry adverts at the start of topics, and
2) "bring the red thumbs back"

is there anything that is:

a) not working
b) doesn't render properly
c) is missing

?

This is happenning to me too. Seems to be something to do with the paid advert at the bottom popping up and disappearing.

Hey Laurie, the new format looks ok to me.

I sometimes post race results and tabular type data. Is there a way of doing this in this new forum? Doing a screen shot to get a photo so that I can post is a bit of a pain..

Totally agree; probably do-able if we added tables to the HTML editor, as I do that sort of things a fair bit too .. it's on the "wish list".

When I reply with a quote on Android it seems ok until I post. Then I find you can see the quoted text but not my actual reply. ?It's there but it doesn't load when you refresh page. Second problem is that it adds random question marks after most paragraphs or sentences. Third issue is then that when I go to edit post in standard view there's lots of extra quote HTML tags.?

Further to this, if I've posted with a quote using the preview site, I can't see my reply using the preview site, even weeks later. However my reply is there when viewing via current site.
