I can see the forum is full of jazz loving folk who are a little shy.

but who am I to make such statements, so I have turned to someone who is a colossus (pun intended) of the scene to speak the truth. jazz is not dead!
Sometimes jazz sounds like a bunch of musicians getting together and making a coherent sound that works. Other times it sounds like 8 people playing different songs on different instruments all at the same time in the same room.
