I prefer the even older days of Gran Prix as in the 1966 movie.

The movie is a classic as it was the first time car mounted cameras were used, the actors were trained to drive at 150 mph and the movie was produced in surround sound.

Couple of links to the movie.

Another great race car watch. Le Mans with Steve McQueen. Couldn't find a good version in English.

i think multiples of 8 and a cross-plane crank is the sweet spot for sound though not sure what crank type is in this brm but always sounded great to me internets say flat plane, but still sounds geat

for a bike, i thought the r1 sounded nice at lower revs

found a cheesy flat v cross vid - it's from 09, so 7 years on, did it end up shifting bike manufacturers thinking about engines?

Looks like the Russians have bigger balls

When I was a kid, the RNZAF did an air show over the beach, which I watched from the roof of our house a few miles away. They'd do their thing over the beach, then come out in a loop, right at eye-level around our house. Epic.

Was in the U.K., at an historic site down a valley in Yorkshire. Ho hum look at the ruins. But hark, what scream down yonder glen? Jaguar hauling ass at treetop level. Was so excited I forgot I had a camera in my hand

Once in a lifetime thing eh? Nope...

About an hour later, a P-51 came thundering down the valley \m/

Forgot the camera again too

Heres a classic from the archives...

Turn up the volume on the first (not bad for a 74year old bloke )

When I worked at Observation City [big pub @ Scarborough beach] we looked forward to the USA carriers arriving.

The flyboys would often show off for their tarts waiting at the hotel, doing low and slow flypasts with the occasional barrel-roll, or side on view so close you could easily read the "no step" stencils and the like.

I still reckon the Brit's are the masters for low level fun though.

One of my mates lived for many years on the boundary of Cranfield airfield.

He had many pics of the grass infield - with rows of slices cut in the grass by mossie props due to flying a wee bit too low when beating up the airfield.
