Just looking board options. I like the idea of the LF happy foil, something a can play in the waves if I'm not foiling. Multi-combo style boards.
Cheaper the better ;)
Yeah toyed with that but looks like a fair bit of messing around and a few $$ and as a beginner I would always be questioning if it was set right.
You can use almost anything as a board, old wake boards work well, strong enough just to drilll holes through the deck, add some grip and off you go. Standard short boards work well too, just need to fill the area where the bolts go through so you don't crush the foam. I once thought rocker mattered, but when learning your not out in light winds so wake board rocker makes no differences.

You might need to block the rear screws with washers so the foil doesn't point downwards due to the rocker line. I built it up with epoxy filler. Mounted it too far back the first try so drilled more holes.
In your first question you talked about having a duel purpose for foil and waves.
if this is to be your beginner board then some nose length and plenty of nose rocker will matter a lot.
all accomplished with a surfboard.
it will be more expensive to mod a wakeboard and end up not using it, than doing the bolt through mod to an old surfboard and getting good use of it.
Agree with the old surfboard. I routered out a block section and glassed in some 10 mil marine ply and bolted the foil to that. Worked great to get started. Nose lift is essential. I put about 10 sessions on it and could ride both ways but not gybe at that point. I then made a Paipo and never looked back. The swing weight of a surfboard is a little off, and you will understand what I mean after you get up and riding for a bit. I also tried using an old twintip that someone gave me and though I could ride okay, it never felt right either. Once on the Paipo my riding improved dramatically and pretty quickly.
I had an old crazyfly door that I just bolted a piece of pine too to strengthen the door. I attached with M8 nuts, bolts and washers. I attached my zeeko foil to pine board and it and it worked a treat. I was primarily after big wide board for light wind starts to get me going fast enough to pop onto the foil. Essentially the same thing as airsail did with his TT.
Could just have easily used a piece of marine ply (both the crazyfly door and plywood have about the same amount of rocker!!).
