I would like to build myself a dedicated kite foil board however other than having a bit of a look at what is on the beach (noting most seem to be going for the chined rails and hull type bottom I have no real experience or knowledge of what is good and what works and what to use as design inspiration. A friend has a slingshot I could probably take a better look at but other wise just looking for some advise if any one has any they can give.
Light wind ocean/lake stuff, nothing fancy just blasting around I would think would be the main use.
I found a foil board on shape3d warehouse so thought I would have a play as it was drawn a bit funky, its 148 x 47 at the moment and 29L no idea if its looks any good but..
I have a board that is like that in stock or you have the option of purchasing the blank in the design of your choice as a custom.
You could glass it your self if you like.
I can give you some info on the shape and size depending on your intended usage.
Cheers

Many thanks, I have foam and cnc here that I will be cutting it on here and glassing/carbon is not a problem as I also build a lot of other boards already. I just don't have much knowledge on what's the best shape to go for, the one I have done above is just a interpretation of a few of the boards I have seen at the beach.
Your board design looks like a tkf comet copy. Check them out for mounting points etc.
it does look like a similar out line, I took most of the double concave out though since I posted the first pic's and before cutting.
It doesn't look like the sell the comet any longer and haven't found a great pic but at a ruff gess it looks like about 10-12" from the tail.
I'd put 10 inch boxes 7 about inches from the tail. Look at the Slingshot boards. It somewhat depends on the foil setup.
I'm a noob, but flying without falling off for 30 min. Tried 2 boards. A higher volume and a lower volume 13 l board. I prefer the low volume. It's easier to water start and handle in water, it kinda forces me to have some speed and use foil for lift during surface transitions.
I'd try to reduce the rail volume on it.
Looks good
That shape will be just fine.
You can give me a call to chat about foil and importantly strap position.
Obviously type/brand of foil will determine exact position.
Your laminate schedule, reinforcements, construction method and finishing are a bigger challenge than the shaping. Looks like your onto it though.
Here's my board part way through.
its a pocket board 120x45cm.
bamboo/carbon.
Had a vac bag failure and ended up with some carbon wrinkles. Doh! so I've had to apply a fix there......
probably a week or so out from completion.
I have done done an initial test and like the reverse concave/chimes or what ever you call it. Touch downs on the angle are smooth.
Sorry forgot to up date this, board is almost complete, I'm going to borrow a slingshot board from some one to take some mesurements from for the foot straps so hope they will work. I did double 6oz glass bottom with a extra patch over the boxes which are set in HD foam the top is double 6 with a patch on the standing area so it should be solid while still staying fairly light. Will hopfully Finnish it this week and will post some pics.
HI mate I am in Highett
I have a footstrap tenplate if you want to borrow it .
Have inserts and track to if you need anything
