Hi brains trust - anyone know where I can get my board converted to have the tracks that can take a Foil? (any idea about cost?)I have access to a North Nugget and I've seen it done with this board, but the person bought it 2nd hand (i.e., it was already converted) so he didn't know where it was done. Apparently it lasted him and a heavier rider well. Would love to convert mine!
I wouldn't bother unless its a spare board that you don't like to use. You need the most rock solid board possible for foiling and its good to get a bit of flex in a surf board. You'll end up with a compromise that isn't as good for either.
If you still want to go ahead, the best way is to buy one of these:
www.gong-galaxy.com/en/product/gong-mount-track-box-reinforced-for-top-plate/
Then cut a hole in the foam of the bottom and glass it in.
The cheap way is to drill 4 holes all the way through the board. Then glass in some tubes and screw through from top to bottom onto the mast.
The easy way is one of those sticky pads like this:
actionsportswa.com.au/product/foilmount/
Although then you won't be able to use it like a surfboard till you peel off the adhesive.
Yes - but where can I get this done ? Warwickl's looks super neat (!). Does anyone know? (he bought is 2nd hand so he doesn't know - but it lasted him the test of time so it IS STRONG ENOUGH and YES this IS a spare board). Am not keen to bolt through the board. It may be more cost effective to just buy a dedicated board... It looks like alot of work.
Any opinions on this? ($4 USD):

I also converted a skim board which has been my mostly used particularly in light winds.
I have it for sale on Seabreeze.com.au but now keeping it for a bit longer.
Not the prettiest conversation but cheap and effective and have used it for 3 yrs.
The last year or so with a foot hook and Axis foil gear.
