^^^^

As is customary, Real are on the ball. Great to see.

BUT - That's a change of heart for you eppo.. I remember your negative comments regarding Pete's riding & video reviews when I first sent you links to the great work (IMO of course..) he puts together. - Your usual "just another kook" etc..

Careful, you'll be taking my advice and jumping (excuse pun) to a Draft next. I guess it all depends where the 'deals' are though hey..

Martyn Bone,

Probably better to get your facts correct before you go posting on the forums. Not sure what exchange rate you have used here, but looks like you used the median rate which does not dictate what you will actually get (i.e. what is on TV in the news, not what your bank will charge you on your credit card). Also you you forgot to mention that they are advertising the kite with the 2014 UCS bar and not the new Fusion bar which is more expensive and how the kite will be delivered in Australia, you also forget to mention the duty you will be charged for bringing the kite into Australia. When all this is factored in correctly, you will be surprised how close the pricing is. Naish Australia does not just make up pricing to try and rip you off, they are calculated correctly.

Regards,

JB

Not having a go at the pricing. Most 12m kites are priced that way. I feel sorry for the guys in the UK AND Europe who have to pay 15 to 20% GST

I think you'll find that any item purchased overseas by a non Australian company which is valued at $1,000.00 AUD or greater will incur Duty, Tax and in some cases extra charges. I think there is free trade between USA and AUS, but you might find the origin of construction of the goods (in this case china which does not have a trade agreement) will fall into this category.

Anyway, we are getting off the point here. Even without Duty, if you use a real exchange rates and pay your GST, the price very close (and that's with the 2014 bar vs 2015 bar). And if you run through the exersize you'll note that the free freight only applies to the USA and freight to AUS is $245USD. Besides all that you should all want to support your local dealers anyway, as without your business they can not survive.

Back to the point, the Pivot is awesome! :)

no info on the flagging system

stick to your current kites, youll be so much happier releasing those to the ocean gods when it goes pear shaped rather than $2,499 a pop

Prices are much the same! Best part is you get warranty help if you purchase in Aus and your helping your struggling kite shop!
Last time I check kite shops in Aus are doing it tough!

Things only become cheaper when you look into old stock, Seems US is much better priced.

Had a go on the 8m pivot in 20-25. Loops really nicely and as the name suggests it pivots therefore doesn't create much Power through the loop so it's nothing like the park in this area but will be good for the cool guys that ride unstrapped. It's got the Naish feel with plenty direct power on tap when u want it., unlike the dice. its easy to jump straight away and drifts nicely when riding downwind And steers with slack lines well. If you like both freeride and waves it's worth a crack. Probably will switch from the parks as I am moving more toward wave riding these days. Even unstrapped at times. So cool. Bar is better but same Naish style, I like it, nice and light unlike that massive safety release north has. Pretty good kite for an old bloke with old knees. If your 20 and wanna unhook get a torch. Boosts big. Get stuffed in advance to brand bashers and the too cool. If you whinge about kite prices I hear second hand liquid force kites are really cheap.

Yes this new pivot sounds like a really nicely refined delta kite, getting some great reviews. A nice alternative to the wainmen, the lithuim, the rally etc.

I feel all kites will be pricey this year....

sounds like a bum steer, heres what you will honestly be up for, if you spend over $1000 dollars and declare that youll pay the gst which is 10%, the arnt any duty tax or extra charges, for example if you buy from the uk the vat rate is 20% which is deducted from the purchase price, as for real exchange rates my dealer has a conversion chart so you know exactly what it costs, he also ships free or you can use someone like parcel to go which give you an online price,1 kite generally costs 50 gbp, also you usually get the odd freebie thrown in, I have 2 mates that own kite shops, one in the uk and one here, I personally know which one gets the better deals, one buys direct and one has to go through a distributor or middle man, the one that goes through the middleman carnt buy his kites for what the other mate sells to the general public,

Exactly Cauncy.. Why, especially with the online information that exists now, shouldn't local shops be able to purchase stock direct? In order to have a chance of survival against increasing levels of online retailing, it will not be long before they have to.

JB - That was a long drought.. Not heard from you for years (or hadn't noticed anyway..) then all of a sudden you pop up again pimping Naish & telling everyone it would be treason to do anything but to support their local dealers.. Don't get me wrong, I agree that it's good for people to support their local dealer. However, that's a hell of a lot of noise you've made in the last week about Naish and the new Pivot especially and everyone supporting their 'local' etc… The Pivot magically made 3 separate threads this week, there was the Draft/Fly exposure, and don't dare shop online..!

I'm sure this new Pivot will be a great kite, but all that 'exposure' coming from the one guy? hmmmm let's see.. I notice 'Windgenuity' seems to have been given a dust off also.. There couldn't be an unmentioned connection could there…? You couldn't have a financial interest in all of this could you.. naaaa… Oh wait, there is & you do…. You signed off as JB on this 'Windgeuity' thread..
www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/Kitesurfing/Review/2015-Naish-PIVOT/

I can't help but wonder JB, if your concern in all your rants about buying local is of genuine concern for the "local dealers" or perhaps more for the 'dealers dealers' nudge nudge, wink wink, say no more...

Anyway everyone, don't you dare buy a kite in future that does not directly profit some middleman/importer. Don't even think about it… Support your friendly, local, cute, incognito penguin. Especially one who doesn't sponsor Seabreeze or declare an affiliation (oh wait, affiliation - it does have a really cute logo on its chest..)

Isn't it amazing the sh1t you can find on Google JB? Look at this from 2010 a good read How things keep going round in circles, Naish North Naish...

Thanks for the in depth responses.

I'll keep it short,

- Yes I'm back, I've really missed these forums.
- Yes I work for Windgenuity (I will get Laurie to put the little thingy back on my Pic)
- The Industry needs a few middle men, trust me.
- Windgenuity/Naish Australia has been a sponsor for SB for years.
- If I think back far enough, I windsurfed for North back in 1995, then Kiting came in 1998 and went Naish for the next 11+ years, had a quick stint back with North but now back with Naish. Weird that you googled me??
- Yes I support and love working in our industry. Yes I get paid for my job just like you (hoping you are employed, sorry if not).
- Definitely guilty of having too much stoke for our sports and wanting to share it.

Ride safe,

JB

I wasn't sure what your situation was now but you did sound connected again. It's good (and fair) for people to know who's who around here.

In actual fact, I've got a bit of a photographic memory (for better or worse..) It seemed like yesterday you put that thread up about leaving Naish. Memory isn't quite good enough to remember a detailed URL - Google assistance was required, simples..

Pivot does look a good kite. Looking at what's been done, it'll probably be a top seller for Naish. A model that will suit the majority very well I'm sure. New bar & new high flow inflate valve too; all sounds good.
I want to try a couple of the other Naish models when they come out this coming season, I've had Naish before; bit of a 'fanboi' actually..

I noticed the Windgenuity site was down ages ago. Why did it shut down? I remember when they did Naish & North. You used to be able to see the old stock deals on there too..

Anyway, welcome back.

Unfortunately due to someone hacking into our website I had to pull it down, and we just haven't had the man power to get back into getting it back up (which is really bad I know), I do plan to have it back up very soon, and fresh with 2015 products as well as the closeout products (one of the many things on my to-do list).

Be sure to give the PIVOT a go, she's a pretty sweet ride

JB
