Hi Tim
I was wondering if I personally have to drop off my equipment to Rottnest Express or can nominate someone to do that on my behalf. Im working tomorrow but would like to hold off until a decision has been made as to what day we are likely to be racing.
Regards
Kat :)

Hi Tim,

Thanks for the update.

I'm driving up from Australind this Arvo and will endeavour to drop my gear off but if I don't make it in time will I have missed the boat?

Cheers
Rich

The line up of talent is incredible this year. Nico Parlier ( just clocked over 41 knots at Hydrofoil Pro Tour in Rockingham on foil), Florian Trittel (ESP) 4th Pro Tour, Olly Bridge 2nd Pro Tour, Flo Gruber 5th Pro Tour. The list of the worlds best racers goes on..|Cant wait for an epic day!

There was a bunch of serious foil mad dogs at port beach last night.
Hopefully they will drop a mars bar or something for us twintip riders to eat at halfway.

OK!

The decision has been made at 12 noon today (Friday) in advance of the 4pm BoM forecast, to defer to the 2016 Red Bull Lighthouse to Leighton until Sunday, 4th December.
Competitors will be individually notified by email later this afternoon, this post is in advance of the email to competitors.

The decision has been made on the basis that the BoM WeatherEye forecast for Saturday 3rd December at both 14:00 and 17:00hrs at Rottnest and Leighton Beach is for wind 10 to 15 knots. This is insufficient wind to safely and successfully stage the open ocean crossing of Gage Roads.
The great news is that the forecast for Sunday looks ideal! 15 to 25 knots, A Summer sea breeze pattern. Some might even say the word #frothing!

WHAT NEXT?

Operational requirements DO require that now all competitors equipment is delivered to the ferry terminal and loaded today, please.
Why? (i.e. why cant I go kiting on Saturday afternoon and then load my gear on Sunday morning...)

Our sponsor, Rottnest Express, are a ferry down in their fleet right now. So, they continue to do an amazing job transporting all our gear, plus 135 racers and 15 volunteers. (NB: The Rottnest Swim Through is also on this weekend, so people and freight capacity is VERY LIMITED)! Interstate competitors arriving late Friday are permitted to deliver their kit on Saturday morning (as if they were going to race).

Please do adhere to the requests as there is an expectation that NO kites or boards are to be loaded on Sunday, thank you.
There a lot of moving parts to staging this race (!) and doing your bit to comply with the requirements makes it oh so much easier for everyone, thanks.

ALL OTHER TIMES REMAIN EXACTLY THE SAME.

REGSITER AND COLLECT YOUR LYCRA FROM 06:30HRS TO 07:30HRS

THE ROTTNEST EXPRESS FERRY LEAVES AT 07:45HRS.

BRIEIFNG AT KINGSTOWN BARRACK AT 12:15HRS

RACE STARTS: 14:30HRS.

AFTER PARTY AT FREMANTLE SAILING CLUB, 151 MARINE TERRACE, FREMANTLE, FROM 18:00HRS

See you on SUNDAY at the Rottnest Express Ferry Terminal.

Best regards,

Tim Turner
Race Director
