Been having trouble with my ankle since injuring it september last year. Nothing major, just a niggling ligament/tendon strain which I seem to re-do almost every session.
After giving it a good break, while stretching and (self) manipulation over the last 3-4 weeks (thinking it should now be ok), yesterdays downwinder had it back to its niggling annoyant self again
Now I'm in my 30's, I realise its not going to get better itself so have decided to bite the bullet and get some physio to try knock it on the head.
I work in the CBD (Perth) so...Anyone know of a good sports physio in the city?
Gemini Medical clinic - but its west perth, 580 newcastle st, Dr Adonis in there used to be a sports doc for an olympic team a few years ago. they have been fixing me and my "bingles" i have for years the Physio is just up the road on newcastle st, hope this helps if you have no other luck
questions to the replyees (or others with experience) regarding sports doctors/physicians...I am interested in what they may offer.
What type of therapy do they offer for minor injuries?
Do they tend to lean towards surgery as a fix?
Go see a good GP. He/she will refer you wherever you need to go, if you do , in fact need to go anywhere. You lose proprioception with ankle injureis and your ankle needs to be retrained and strengthened so that it plants itself correctly every time you put your foot down.(hence recurring injuries after initial injury) After an initial examination and possibly Xrs and other tests you will be given an exercise programme. Any good GP, physio, sports physician can give you these. Only a small minority of ankle injuries will require surgery.
Hamish Osborne and Scott Isbel are both excellent sports physicians , but you will probably need a refferal.
Not convinced manipulation is going to help your ankle!
